What where the designers thinking?

I am normally a fan of the modern Seat styling but this pseudo SUV is simply sad. Nothing screams cheapness like grey plastic. I wonder if this is intended for people who do not know how to park.

But it pales compared to the non pseudo off road version.

Well, it probably is cheap.

It is relatively expensive because plastic planking can only be ordered with the? 170hp diesel and the 200 GTI engine.?  It also has a DVD multimedia system as standard. They will proberly decontent it later on.

Yeah, then it's overpriced for the feature.  I remember on my brother's old E320, it had a black runner on the bottom, and on my 2002 it was body colored.  When you see the difference, it was really ugly and cheap looking.  The Passat has that black runner, but the car is half the price.

The Pirate

I rather like it, especially that rear 3/4 view.  I'd buy one.

After you wake up with the sun at 6am on someone's floor, coughing up cigarette butts and tasting like warm beer, you may well change your opinion on this matter.

It's not bad but I prefer the standard Altea.

I'm sure it looks fine in a color combination other than pale yellow on gray.

Unpainted matte plastic is supposed to counter the issues encountered when taking painted parts offroad or through the mud. It lets you bump things without chipping/cracking the paint, even for European city parking.

Seems pretty practical to me.

but when you bump a painted bumper, you can usually buff the damage off. with these unpainted stuff, there is almost nothing you can do about it(other than appliying shoe polish)

A very light scuff, maybe, though usually it's deep enough to leave a scratch anyhow. Look around at so many newer cars that have gouged up rear bumpers sometime. Hell, even my BMW's rear bumper is scratched too deep to buff out. I don't know WHAT people are doing to their cars (the BMW was like that when I bought it). unpainted plastic is a common choice for things that are going to get scratched up, and has been for years.

Unfortunately it's also the choice of car manufacturers for bumpers on their cheapest models, so you get people thinking it looks cheap regardless of what it's done to, even an Audi AllRoad.
