Damn, he was running so rich he was blowing flames out the cat, and melted his O2.

I tried seafoam once on the old car...I was cured.

Yeah but that guy was running his spark plug wires 4-3-2-1 instead of 1-2-3-4

I, like Adam, have heard of people swearing by Seafoam; I still think it can be useful

Did you read how long he'd supposedly been running the wires backwards? 2 years! I can't believe that the car at all, let alone for two years... unless the plugs normally fire twice, once during compression, and once during exhaust, it would be impossible.

Yeah, I think Escort Boy's problems were much deeper than the Seafoam.  I'm rather dubious of his claim that the car ran fine for two years on the wrong firing order; I hooked up wires incorrectly once (on my first car), and it barely ran.  Two years seems impossible, though people can claim whatever they want on the internets.

As for Seafoam, I'm not sure if I'm going to continue to use it, though new plugs (it was due anyway) is a small price to pay.  I just got back from a 30-40 mile drive, and the car is running flawlessly; in fact better than before.  I've ordered a set of NGK wires for it, I expect those to make a difference as well, as I've never replaced the wires, which are the original ones as far as I can sell.

Depending on some things, the car is going to be sold soon, anyway.

After you wake up with the sun at 6am on someone's floor, coughing up cigarette butts and tasting like warm beer, you may well change your opinion on this matter.

I'm not really sure, and I may not even get rid of the Civic.  My brother is in need of an inexpensive, good car; and he's expressed interest in my car.  I'd sell it to him for a good price, if he wants it.  If not, I'll just keep it.

As far as possible replacements, I keep thinking about the Mazda Protege ES.  I really, really liked the one I drove, and it fits my current requirements for transportation.  Basically, I'm just in the mood for something a bit different, and if it works out favorably for me, I'll do something.

Many early electronically controlled ignition systems fire all four plugs anytime just one of them reaches TDC on the compression stroke.  That said, I think his Escort motor may have a distributor, so it seems even more confusing to me...30mpg?

Dude you can't!

If you and him meet, you'll both cancel each other out and it'll lead to annihilation of you both, like matter and antimatter!

If anyone was on the Gowanus bridge last night, my car was the one broken down in the right Eastbound lane.

It turned out that during the reinstallation of an A/C line, I pulled the starter solenoid cable off from the starter. I figured this out early this night.
