I saw some carriages in a Belgium auto museum and was pretty shocked at how primitive the suspensions were. Leather straps and wooden leaf springs. Nasty.

Early model Mercedes-Benz W126 S-Class in 280SE trim. This was the base model with fuel injection. A carburated 280S was available for generally third world markets where local mechanics weren't familiar with fuel injection.

A rebadged Toyota. Kinda like the Ford Courier, a rebadged Mazda.

Calling it a 1 ton seems a bit ambitious though.

I almost bought a '56 Buick in that exact shade of blue and white, only it was a convertible. This was in the late '50s. Still regret not getting it.

Current Renault Megane RS in a stunning metallic orange - one of the best driving and handling FWD cars on sale in Europe today. Parked my A250 in the background since these cars are in the same class, but the Megane RS is faster and handles better than my ride.

One could actually argue that they are similarly priced, but every A-Class has MBUX as standard, and I am willing to bet that drives up the price by almost 2,000 on the A-Class over the Megane RS.

Then again, the Megane RS would actually compete more with the Mercedes A35 AMG 4Matic (305-horsepower) since it has 280-hp / 300-hp depending which exact model you specify. My A250 "only" has 224-hp.

How do they compare in actual size and interior comfort. The Megane, in that colour, looks exceptionally attractive with more racy touches however, the Mercedes is a very handsome design.

I imagine the Renault offers a little more rear room since it's a little longer and appears to have a longer wheelbase as well. My car in the back is adequate for shorter occupants for short journeys.

Not the most attractive design, a bit boxy, but I guess it was Alfa's economy car in the '60s. Still with the lovely little twin cam engine and a 5 speed transmission, it was still a sporty drive.

Yep, not the prettiest Alfa, but by all accounts it was sporty and fun for its time.

Munich. I actually saw this truck a few days ago but the sun was so bright that I could
not get proper shots. The owner was working inside the massive compartment and I got to
glance inside: he's converting it into an RV! The truck had historical plates.

Discovered this lovely Mercedes-Benz 200 (W115) with a 4-speed manual column shifter. The historical license plate had a "75" reference so perhaps this is one of the last Strich-8s made in 1975.
