The 1970s.  Classic roadsters made their last stand before becoming extinct, only to be revived by Mazda in the early 90s.

Which of these disco-era chick magnets would you "Boogie-Down" with?

Either the Fiat, Lotus or Triumph TR6. Can't decide between the 3.

omicron

Oh my word. This is a difficult choice.

Triumph TR6, over the Jensen-Healey and Lotus Elan.

giant_mtb

Of those pictures, based on looks alone, I picked the MGB.

I couldn't tell you a damn thing about just about any of those cars.

 :tounge:

Raza

Lotus Elan.  Obviously!

For ease of getting parts, the MGB would be a good choice. Of the ones shown, the Alfa and Fiat are the most "modern" in suspension and engine design. The lotus would make the best autocrosser but it's costly.

But, personally, I already made the choice.

BTW, none of them are actually roadsters as they all have roll up side windows... In the era these cars originally came from, that makes a difference as some sports cars were available both ways...

All I have in my head at the moment is the Triumph's straight-6 snorting and blaring. Wonderful stuff.

Great Poll!

The Triumph, Jensen, and Lotus are all standing out at me (except the Lotus' color). I saw a Triumph yesterday. I can't decide.

The '60s was a much better era for those cars.  Most had their appearances compromised in the '70s with bumper regulations etc. and the Alfa Spider was completely ruined when they went to the Kamm tail, imo.   I'd be hard pressed to choose something from that lot but I've always really liked the styling of the Karmann Ghia.

Hmm... I think I'd go with a TR6, but it's too hard to narrow it down between the TR6, Jensen-Healey (which looks better) and the TR7 (which I like simply because everyone else hated it ).

Pretty sure the TR8 didn't come about until 1980, but even so you could always swap a V8 into the TR7, making your own TR8.

What color is that and how much did it cost, if you don't mind me asking.  I kinda want to paint my wagon that color when I get the new front end.

Sorry, the Porsche 914 (and the Fiat X-1/9) are both targa tops and, as a result, belong to a different category.

TR8 ftw

The Triumph TR8 convertible wasn't introduced in America until the 1980 model year, so it just misses out from being included in this poll.

They're both 2 seat and open top, so they're both sports cars, but no, they're not roadsters by the parameters set here.

And 914 in a second!
