The six-cylinder debate is an interesting one. I personally wouldn't buy any six-cylinder Mustang or Camaro of times gone past, but I'd buy a six-cylinder Torana or Hemi Charger, and frown if anyone was to replace the standard six with a V8.

I have to keep things in context, of course - the vast majority of Mustangs and Camaros found in Australia are private imports, and when faced with the choice of importing a 6 or an 8, everyone imports an 8.

How the hell do you buy a six-cylinder hemi Charger?

BTW, does nobody remember the high-performance 6-cylinder Firebird Sprints ('67-''69?)?
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Okay, that says Valiant Charger R/T, not Hemi Charger...

Well pluck me bald and call me drafty.

I want a VG Valiant Pacer E34:

'Option E34 (235hp): Four Barrel Track Pack carburettor and manifold / Performance camshaft / 3.80" Bore (250 cubic inch)/ Vibration damper / Dual plate clutch / Manual choke controls / Modified instrument cluster / Torque limiting strut / larger radiator / Smaller fan / Windage Tray / Premium main and big end bearings / Shot peened engine internals / Increased pressure capacity oil pump'

The E/49 Hemi Chargers are something else:

It's a close contest between that car and the XY Falcon GTHO Phase 3 for the fastest Australian muscle car ever built - a 265ci Hemi-6 versus a 351ci V8.

The greatest travesty of all was the 'Supercar Scare' of mid-1972 which neutered the E55 Charger - a thundering 340ci V8 similar to those fitted to the AAR 'Cudas, but more powerful.

Hmmm.

Classic antipodean imports are becoming more and more popular in the states, but as yet I've hardly paid attention to any of them beyond XB Falcons, Monaros, and Valiants.

Maybe i should.
