Title: Mythbusting: The truth about the GM EV1
Post by: CaminoRacer on July 04, 2021, 12:22:41 PM
Excellent article by Hagerty. After seeing the T-shaped battery pack, it's obvious that GM continued the EV1 engineering in the Volt. And it shows that EV tech just wasn't as possible back in the 90s. We needed lithium ion batteries and more advanced computer controls.

"Who killed the electric car" was such a
biased and ill-conceived hit piece its a wonder they weren't sued.

GM put the EV1 powertrain into stripper 2WD S10 pickups. I know a guy who has like 3. He says they're not worth much but to me seems like they'd be collectibles.

The EV1 had no future because of non-profitability for GM and non-affordability by the general public, just like EVs of today. Thing is government eco hegemony was only a fraction of a fraction of what it is today; CARB backed off then, today we'll see.

Stay tuned, boys!
