I drive the wife's 2016 Fusion and it feels like a giant sack of potatoes that just barely steers.  ;)

But Fusions are sporty

In the entire LA area Craigslist today, there are only 8 NC's for sale today. Most are grossly overpriced, some are junk/salvage title crap.  Guess I was lucky.

So how do NAs and NDs compare as far as "sportiness" is concerned?

A sports car, to me, should have more of a "edgy" feel to it, a little more harshness and a bit rough around the edges.

NA came out in a time when small, sporty cars were really popular.  NB had a shorter production run than NA or NC, plus it came out as demand for SUVs and crossovers were on the rise and sporty coupes were declining.  NC never really got the following or love of the early cars.  Much larger, softer, and more refined.  Plus being a sports car in the CUV/tallwagon era.

Driving a Miata is definitely more of a commitment when everyone else drives jacked up cars with bumper heights dialed to "decapitate".

Little sports cars definitely weren't the popular thing when the NC came out. Retro & especially retro pony cars were all the rage for people who were willing to get a 2 door, and the CUV/truck craze was taking off for everyone else.

I needed a DD for a 66 mile daily commute. The NC fit the bill nicely.

Hell, there are times when driving the station wagon; a full size body-on-frame V8 that's 18 feet long; seems like I'm a dwarf.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

The red looks really good. Also, how much if you don't mind me asking?  Curious what 2016s are going for now.

I got this one for $22k. Supposedly they're worth closer to $19-20k, but I didn't find many for sale less than $21-22k. SLC can be a bit of a cool-used-car wasteland, gotta drive to the west coast or Texas a lot of times.

I think this will be my main SCCA autox car, while the El Camino will be for Goodguys events and a small number of SCCA events.

Saw a short clip last night, said the designer of the MX-5 was told he could do so on his lunch and before and after work. He was working on their pickup.

He did work on it off duty for a few years then it became a thing!

Lovely red.

I'm reluctantly becoming a Miata fan, must be the swoopiness that they've introduced in the ND.  By the time they get to the NF, it will look like an XK120.
