Title: Different kinds of superchargers?
Post by: giant_mtb on May 28, 2005, 11:22:30 PM
I know little about superchargers except it works basically the same way as a turbocharger except that it's powered by the engine itself (with a belt) instead of the exhaust gas like a turbo. (which is pretty much all you need to know)

Are there different "styles" or "designs" of superchargers?  Sometimes I hear/see "roots style" supercharger or something like that and I think I've heard others but I can't remember.  Are there different designs?  If so...what are they?  Pics and explanations would be appreciated...

Yep...I tried that too.  howstuffworks.com is what taught me how car engines work...which got me really into cars...which got me here...and now I want a future with a job to do with cars...and I guess I owe it to HowStuffWorks.com!  :P

What it is, is way too much money spent for the performance gain.  But to each his own.

Not really...rice is slow...that car isn't slow...and it doesn't look all that riced out either.  It doesn't have a 4 foot wing and a crazy-ass body kit...it looks decent.

when i first saw the pics i thought rice...but Giant_mtb you once again made a good point...it isnt riced without the 4ft wing...you dont have to have the body kit to make it rice in my opinion...

as a wise poster on another forum once said "the appearance of performance without the substance doesn't strike me as necessarily creative"
