I tried Googling it but couldn't find any info. The German Wikipedia entry on car radios also does not refer to it except for something vague about short and long wave frequencies. Here's another radio from a car that around a few years later and instead of CHKUU it has LMKUU, and you can see on the station finder display those same laters printed on the sides. I am not expert, but I think it has something to do with wave frequency.
