An amazing accomplishment for a small American manufacturer.  Expect Koenigsegg, also a small, but Swedish supercar manufacturer to shortly up the ante.

That is so unbelievably nuts!!!  The difference in Hp/aerodynamics needed to get from 100mph and 150mph is substantial. 150 to 200mph is even higher. 200mph to 300mph blows my mind!!!

What gets me is that the acceleration is nearly constant through about 185, slows down after the shift (sixth?)
but is again accelerating like a raped ape at 210.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Why'd he stop? The engine had more to give!

Unbelievable, though it took the KPH display going to 400 before I realized it was KPH (needed to go full screen lol)

Probably running out of distance.

Maybe the tires are also a limiting factor.  I've read the Bugatti Veyron and Chiron top speed is limited by its tires.

Could have reached the rev limit.

It doesn't sound like it; its hard to tell. I tried watching it again to find any indication of a tach or hitting a rev limiter, and I just can't tell.

I don't find the "production" car top speed race all that exciting. I guess because it's useless in the real world yet still 150 mph behind land speed record cars. Just kind of a weird middle ground.

If there was a way to quantify how satisfying it is to drive a particular car, then that would be a number I could give two flying fucks about. Otherwise, it's just rich bozos throwing money at their dicks.

Ooohhh!  Tuatara messed up bad.  GPS was clearly off/not calibrated correctly.

I would've quadruple checked that record before blowing my load like they did. 331mph is so obscenely fast, with orders of magnitude more wind resistance than 200mph.

Makes me wonder what that helicopter pilot was thinking, when he heard the published speed versus what he knew he was flying at.

That and a simple sanity check would have shown that the car wasn't anywhere near that.

Also interesting that the car's speedometer was both significantly off from the GPS and the road speed, assuming the road speed I've seen estimated from the YouTube are accurate.
