Scenario:

We are visited by aliens.  You are hand picked by the aliens to answer questions about Earth.  They ask you to point to the best car the world has ever had to offer, what would you pick?  I leave the criteria for your decision up to you.  You can pick whatever you want, but you have to provide your reasons why.

Easy.  911.
Reasons?  You need to explain to the aliens why.  They won't accept "because" as a reason either.  They're really nasty when you don't give them what they want.

Laconian

These aliens are probably jaded by centuries of space flight, so I doubt terrestrial car dynamics would impress them.

I would probably recommend a Rolls Royce so they could experience the best in creature comforts unique to our planet.

Good answer.

For the record, I'm still thinking.  It's hard to come up with anything besides...Mustang.

The 911 sums up humanity.  It's been in production for quite a while, it's had minimal, evolutionary changes.  It's a stubborn car, sticking with a less than ideal setup (rear engine and all), it's selfish, but doesn't want to look like it (four seats, but not really), and is highly adaptable; road racing, rally racing, leisurely drives, et al.

I agree with Raza..

But then, why would the aliens care about our cars?

The least carlike car would win. So whatever the fuck that is, let me know. It;'s so the aliens can associate more with it, and hopefully don't get pissed off. Therefore I have a greater chance of not being abducted and anal raped by some glowing green alien penis.

Damnit.  After Raza's explanation, I'm having a helluva time coming up with anything else...and I don't like the 911.

I can't help but think a Caterham Seven or a Lotus Elise/Exige might be a bit of a hoot that cross-universe travel just couldn't replicate.

Toyota Prius.

It basically tells of what the Human Race wants to do.

They try to do something better to change the world, but ultimately it's not right. They try to better that attempt, but despite being in good nature, it still is a bit ironic and misguided. Their efforts to save the world can only be appreciated if it is plebeian in appearance.

That's a given.  In fact, it's that marvel of human ingenuity, that fantastic piece of packaging efficiency, that is the reason why it is the best car.  It would no doubt impress even the most advanced of alien races and I'm sure they'd immediately seek ways to implement it on their spacecraft.
