Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

A while ago I noticed a lot of cars & pickups with various shades of shiny grey paint.  At the time, it seemed like an unusual colour as most grey vehicles were quite pale.  I wasn't really sure if I liked it, but it's grown on me.  The darker greys look better, kind of like wet clay.

I actually swore I would not get a grey car. There are too many of them. But, this was- well it wasn't a deal because that would mean something lower than MSRP- fairly priced because it was a special order that the original buyer backed out of.
I was also pretty sour on buying a new car at all; but when a 2016 4Runner with 198,000 miles is being sold for 34,000 and there are a total of 7 new cars on a lot that usually has 100-150, the market is truly messed up and it changes your position.

Pictures! Pictures!

Congrats!!!!

We ordered our maverick in dark grey. Didn't want to pay for the extra colors, will be easier to keep clean than white or black or silver... I hope.

I saw a grey Accord and a grey Chrysler 300 in Atlanta yesterday. Very nice, especially the 300. Yes, grey is still monochrome, but It's good that we're moving away from the boring black/white/silver options.

Edit: and another vote here for photos!

Congratulations!  Did you consider the new Ford Bronco?  Probably would have to wait a while for one of those though.

Nice, congrats!  I still miss my 4Runner a bit.  Nice car.  Loved how it looked.  Hard to justify when doing the mileage I was doing, but had the pandemic hit while I still owned it, I would have never gotten rid of it I don't think.

I seriously considered the new Bronco, but became more and more disappointed the more I looked. Really ended up deciding that in two years it will be a great vehicle, but right now with normal launch problems compounded by supply chain issues and with ridiculous wait times and/or dealer markups, its a hard pass.

The 4Runner does everything a Bronco would, and with proven reliability.

And it's much quieter, with a real roof and all.

A 4Runner gets you 95% of the off road performance of a Wrangler or Bronco, with much much better on road dynamics.  Seems like a no brainer unless you lived at MOAB or something.

It does 100% of the offroading I am likely to do- which is get to trailheads and occasionally snatch a side by side back to the road- which is also more offroading than 95% of Wrangler owners will ever do.

If I did live near Moab or was interested in hardcore wheeling- I'd never start with a new or stock vehicle to begin with.

Yeah, a newer or stock vehicle is sketchy on actual off road trails. RZRs are where it's at, IMO. The performance per dollar is great and you aren't worried about breaking your daily driver. Old Jeeps might be cheaper but not as capable without a lot of work put into them.

I'd love an electric one that's quiet.

Oh, that would be ideal. It seems like the little gas engine has to rev over 9000 RPM before the thing even start to move.
