Hot Rod could break the record easily if they just set up some decorations on the main street of one of the small towns they drive through on the Power Tour.

In many colder part of north America, work places, and shopping centers have electric plugs at many parking spots, are people now using those to plug in electric vehicles, and hybrids?

I virtually never see them used. They even had them at one of the ski resorts I go to a lot. Makes me lol because of course these are the choice parking spots too - it's funny how society will forever find a way to segregate itself.

US Hybrid/electric market share has fallen in 2014, and gas is on its way to under $3/gallon, and IC-only cars are making mpg strides with each new model whereas hybrids/electrics are pretty much tapped (save of course of just using more batteries).

Galaxy

I did not mean plugs specifically installed for electric vehicles, but those that have existed for decades to warm up the car in winter.

Don't have them here but quite common out on the prairies.

Just for block heaters; they don't warm the car as much as keep the diesel from freezing to jelly.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

So they do not deliver enough Amps for Tesla, not even a trickle charge?

While you can charge an electric car by plugging into a normal household-style outlet, you'll only get significant charge out of it if you're sitting there all day.

Haha, I thought it was pretty clever. I wasn't sure where they were going at first, just "here are two very different vehicles made by Mercedes."

Not that I've seen. It's mainly for people using block heaters. They cycle the power on and off every 10 to 15 minutes between rows of plugs. Unless it's super cold outside, they'll cycle the power on for slightly longer periods. At office buildings they turn them on an hour before lunch and before quitting time.

NHTSA expands air bag alert to 7.8M vehicles

Washington — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said late Tuesday it was expanding its alert of faulty air bags that could explode or expel shrapnel to 7.8 million vehicles from 10 major automakers.

NHTSA said it was adding Ford Motor Co.; Chrysler Group LLC; Mitsubishi Motor Co.; and Subaru, a unit of Fuji Heavy Industries, to the recall.

On Monday, NHTSA took the unusual step of urging owners of 4.7 million vehicles at six major automakers to act immediately as Toyota Motor Corp. announced it was recalling 247,000 vehicles in humid areas and warned that drivers shouldn't use the vehicles until they were serviced by a dealer.

Worldwide, 11 automakers have recalled more than 16 million vehicles for defective air bags made by Japanese supplier Takata Corp. The new, urgent warning covers vehicles recalled over the last 18 months. At least two deaths have been linked to faulty Honda air bags and two others are under investigation, including the Oct. 2 death of a 51-year-old Florida driver.

awesome. Take something built 200yrs ago (and optimized for a traveling windspeed of like 10mph) and put it on today's technology.

How does a Nascar V8 not sound good?

68_427

It only has NASCAR heads.  It sounds like a super muffled 458 IMO.  Totally lame.

NASCAR engine would have been better.  358ci and 950hp+

I think a Nascar style FFR Hot Rod would be sick. I need a garage/shop/warehouse.

Paint it orange with black accents. Black Nascar style wheels. All aluminum de-stroked V8. Large mustache, sunglasses, cutoff jean shorts and muscle shirt, and Budweiser in your hand at all times.

LOL

I gotta stop getting on Instagram until I get to SEMA. Gonna see all the cars before I even get there.

SEMA looks so good this year compared to the last few.
