Heh.  Brake pads came...I thought they came in pairs (picture had 2 pads) so I ordered two pairs...but they came in full sets of 4, so now I have 4-too-many brake pads.  Could return em for the $30 or just keep em til next time?

2o6

They sell well enough in the US, but I've driven the X4 and X6 and at regular speeds and day to day driving they drive identically to the X3 and X5 I can't understand the premium.

X3 and X5 are ugly.

Yep. Got the wheels off fine but the caliper bolts don't wanna budge.  Couldn't get em with the breaker bar either.  I think I need that 440ft-lb monster.  -__-

The bolt holding the bracket for the brake line came fine.

I keep a length of tube kicking around for such occasions; put the tube over the end of the breaker bar and double or triple the leverage.

giant_mtb

It's not like 440 would start tearing heads off, right?  I feel like a lot of the pneumatics they use in shops are probably around that power range.

Forgot about that...unfortunately I don't have any.

I do have some long close end wrenches I've effectively done the same thing with though. Adds like another foot.

Got it. Connected my smaller breaker to my longer one via spark plug socket. :yee:

Not many.

If you have a 3/4" thumper, then yeah, or a 1" drive pneumatic it would likely do around 800-1000. 440 lb-ft is a lot of torque, and yeah it could tear the the head right off a lot of bolts
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Nah, Tacoma.  I don't have the Audi anymore. (Guess I never updated my sig...I have em turned off so I never think about it).  Audi's wheels gave me the same issue, though. Whenever I rotated my tires, I'd have to put my back to the car, grab the fender lip, and give the tire a good donkey kick to break em loose.  Buddy that worked at a tire shop taught me that trick.

Got it, though. Saw a trick on the YouTubes where you just run the caliper bolt through its hole and use a nut or washer so it presses against the inside of the rotor.  Keep going til she pops or tighten it nice and give it a couple wacks.  Done!

giant_mtb

Fuck.  One of the pistons in the RF caliper is stuck...which explains the uneven wear on the pad that caused me to begin this in the first place. Siiiiiigh.

Can you unstick it with a c-clamp?

Ooo didn't think of that.

Edit. No dice.  Looks like I'll have new pads, rotors, and calipers.

Is it the type of caliper piston the needs to be rotated to retract?

We might be going now, with my brother and I splitting payments until I take it over fully after school.  He's decided against the S6 and isn't really excited by anything else in the market that's similar, so he's going to refresh his S4 (needs a little bodywork and some other stuff) and keep that for at least another year and maybe then getting a new S4.

Tanks turn on a dime and have zero body roll, so no.

So far in my research, BMWs are by far the most expensive, the most stingy with standard features, and the only ones where at least partial leather isn't standard.  They're pretty much pricing themselves out.

I actually like Toyota trucks a lot.  Woman's family had two Sequoia's.  Not bad for what they are.  I had that Tacoma for a bit.  I loved that truck.
