Yes, that is a real model name.

WTF?

Apparently you can get a silly-named trim in all of the engine/drive-wheel combinations.

Still here @ dinner. I joked about getting an M4 GTS allocation and the CEO shook my hand.

Now I am worried because no way I can afford it.

Does Mexico get the carbon seats and such?  In the US the GTS weighs exactly the same as the regular M4

How do you like the sound?  This new gen of I6 sounds a bit different.  Almost Nissan RB ish.

And BMWs auto white-orange backlighting is so fucking dope.

Huh, does BMW have its own version of a virtual dashboard? Or are those physical gauges with some sort of LCD background...?

Why is "virtual dashboard" a good thing? I want a real dashboard. One that exists in the physical world and isn't prone to computer failure.

If I have time tomorrow, I might swing by the Jag dealer and test drive an F-Pace. I'll be in the area of a dealer that had a private track (I've driven it before, it'll be interesting to try an SUV on the same track where I drove the hell out a 500 Abarth).

Sort of. On the larger cars (5/6/7/X5/6) you can get a fully digital dashboard that reconfigures the look completely depending on driving mode. AFAIK not as "advanced" as Audi's.

If I recall correctly, the Q3 was a bit too tight in the back for our tastes. Personally, I would be fine with a regular Q5 2.0 or 3.0, or a Discovery Sport, but my brother is easily caught up in the prestige of things. If they did an S version of the Q3, that might be an option.

I'm surprised that the Infiniti is built in Sunderland. Kind of amazing--for a country that has no independent consumer automobile makers, they sure do seem to get a good deal of car production in their borders. I wonder if Brexit will change that.

I'm reading through the comparison now, I'll update with my thoughts. Thanks for the link.

EDIT: I saw a Q3 on road the other day, and you don't really notice how awkward the proportions are (as they noted in the comparison) until you see it in the real world. In the showroom, it looked fine, but on the road, it was strange looking from the side. Still, the most handsome front fascia in the group.

The Infiniti/Mercedes pairing seems to be working out very well. They take the virtues of both companies--namely poor design language couple with bizarrely chosen form over function, the new and continuing ability to shock their customers with poor interior design and materials, and the ability to smoke and mirror people into thinking that's what luxury is, and the ability to uncomfortably straddle competing purposes--and mash them together in two unappealing packages.

The X1 is the only one here that looks like it might be worth a look.

Seen 'em go dead from stepper motor, comms, or electrical failure more than once. And that's complete failure, not just one little annoying dot reminding you your car isn't perfect.
