In a BMW

The S62/S65 engines are known for lunching bearings. I was looking at E60 535is... there is a PDF on some forum literally going through all its problems. How is it basic ass Honda was able to make 9000 RPM 120HP/L engines with like 1/4 the budget 15 years ago.... but BMW only just figured out shit like plastic doesn't do well in cooling systems

Still though... 340i M Sport :(

My dad's pushing like 95k on his E60 535xi. Thankfully it's been perfect so far. He's probably gonna try and push it to 150-160k

Naw those 718s went for the new Subaru sound

I think it all comes down to tuning... turbo engines are tuned to make peak torque at like 1500 RPM. The same engine tuned like a regular NA engine in the Freeze Breeze sounds awesome by comparison

Frisbees sound pretty bad, stock, as well.  It's the equal length headers that ruins the boxer sound on the FA motors.

Luckily a <$500 ebay header will fix the FR-S/BRZ

Seems the aftermarket can't really make them sound exciting either.

Frisbees can be made to sound decent.  The WRX is harder since the twin scroll turbo apparently needs ELH to work properly.

Yep this is also the reason the M5/6 have a flat plane sound.

Biggest :wtf: I've seen in awhile.

0-60 in 4.8sec ain't bad.  I just cringe at how often they have to say "according to seller". And the comments are funny, "congrats to all the bidders and observers".   :wtf:

Sold for $51,000.

Yeah, that's the :wtf: part about it.

Those things aren't that great at all.  I would have been surprised if it sold for $25k.

Air shocks go on those all the time.  Couldn't produce them for like a year or two also.  MB almost had to buy back the vehicles.  Whole things is a nightmare.  Knowing everything I do about it, I wouldn't buy it for $10k even.

Nice to know. I almost got one a couple of times.

Then again I got an MG, so reliability has never quite been a top priority.

As usual, the aftermarket makes it sound worse.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVljJYr8stY

Now, that doesn't sound as good as my Z4 (unfair to compare, since the BMW I6 is one of the best sounding engines ever), my Boxster, my Jetta, my Passat, or even my E320, but it's not that bad.  Basically most stock exhaust systems aren't that bad; if the engine sounds like shit, it's usually quiet enough that you don't hear much of it anyway.  And it sounds better than that aftermarket exhaust you posted.  When people try to open up four cylinders, they tend to sound like shit.

I actually think the standard 718 is the best sounding.

The underlying engine note is still old Beetle. Porsche has come full circle. $60K for that..... no thanks

Will be interesting to see what sales look like for this new model. I imagine there will be a disproportionate dip

The new 4-banger Porsche motor isn't nearly as sonorous as the outgoing NA H6, but at least it has some character.  The new Subaru motors sound somewhere between bland and bad.

Pretty slick how they did it. Emissions testing is done on a rig so they don't turn the steering wheel much. So emissions would switch its program to street mode once you turned the wheel more than a certain amount.

Holy crap... midsize sedan sales were down 20% year over year in October and 12% year to date. Even if you take out the DOA Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger it's -17% and -7%. For context the whole market was only down 0.3% in October and 6% YTD... compacts were down 7.5%/4.5%... subcompacts 4%/flat... waiting to see what's up with crossovers.

Someone here has a new Sonata... every time I see it I think it's an Azera or Genesis or something. The cars are too damn big

How does the new Cruze and Civic compare to a 1st gen Mazda6? I'm wondering if they're almost as big inside & out. If so, they might be a good choice for my mom.

According to Edmund's, the Cruze is almost identical except for hip/shoulder room. Seems like it's worth checking out. The 2017 did well in Motortrend's comparo and my brother's GM discount would apply.

Is it normal to have Tire Rack mount/balance your wheels/tires and have them shipped to your house?  Or is that weird.  Sounds like a lot of work for the UPS guy.

Normal normal. UPS guys just roll them. The only crappy part is if you have TPMS.

I'd still need to get an alignment done locally, but that's coo.
