There's a Fiero club near here that meets at a Starbucks every month or so. One day I'll drive by and there's like 20 of them.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

I've got a buddy with a really nice Fiero. Probably the only one in the world that you can say that about.

Nice 997s are dropping into semi-affordable range.

997.2 Carrera 2S or 4S in a few years will be the investment buy.

It'd be nice.

They're pretty rock solid.  The big dollar items on those is if you have an IMS bearing failure, but by the 997.2 that was all fixed.  Maintenance stuff isn't too bad for them if you do them yourself.  You shouldn't need to drop the engine or anything like that for a long time if you buy a clean one with a nice maintenance record and relatively low miles.

997.2 is probably the best used Porsche to get. Or a 996.2 Turbo.

First gen Cayman's are great deals now too.  But it just doesn't have the same appeal as a 911.

I can't get over the 996 fried egg headlights.  Don't think I ever will either.  They look so much older than the 997.

IIRC there are (relatively) inexpensive kits to change the front end on the 996 to a 997 look.

Still have to contend with the IMS bearing time bomb (for which there is no fix, when it fails you replace with another one of the same design that will also inevitably fail) and sub-par interior.  The 996 was probably the worst generation, all things considered.

996 Turbo and GT3 do not have the IMS problem. Different engine. That's only on the Carreras.

I'd rather just pay the extra money to get a better interior and rear end too

I agree and I'd probably go the same route. But it's not really apples to apples. A 997 Carrera/S would be sportier but a 996.2 Turbo would be the better GT. Depends on the intended use.

I found this kit: http://www.wickedmotorworks.com/partdetails.php?partid=10098

Please just go look at it.  Bizarre ricing of an ND miata.  The things on the front fenders right behind the wheels are the weirdest.  Just random squares of carbon fiber bolted into the fender.

My favorite thing though, by far, is his "vape shop" instagram tag made into a foot long badge on the back of the car.  Just beautiful :wtf:
