I need to see if I can run an extension cord to the parking garage without anyone messing with it.

Too late.  Changed my oil like 250 miles ago with good ol' dinosaur juice.  I'm usually a synthetic guy, but I was feeling cheap...my bad.  I've no issue running conventional as long as I keep up on changing it.  Next change will probably be synthetic or a blend.  Gotta keep the VVTiLQJV stuff happy.

Why do you put dino juice in? Synthetic is already pretty cheap and it's good peace of mind...

I was told to not put synthetic in the RX7 since apparently it's easier to burn dino oil than synthetic but that still makes me uneasy...

I dunno.  Mostly because I bought the oil at the hardware store and their selection was crap and I didn't feel like going to Walmart. lol  I put the good stuff in it last time.

I've got a long trip coming up over the winter (January or February...can't remember), so I'll probably change it out before then.  I'll probably have 1500-200 miles on this fresh oil by then.  Either way, I'm not too worried about it.  Dino juice is fine for daily drivers if you maintain intervals.

I've touched it like 3 times the last few weeks. Once just because the motor was blowing loud and needed to talk on the phone, white noise bothers me a lot.

Yeah my understanding was always that regular oil performs pretty much the same as synthetic when its new. The problem with regular oil is just that it wears out much faster. So as long as you change you oil at regular (short) intervals regular oil should be fine and work just as well as synthetic.

Rounding off a few edges and stretching out the lights made that much difference to you? To me it reads like just a refresh, and IMO looks dated because of it.

Yeah, I wouldn't call the outgoing SRX all that blocky looking.  Not appreciably more than the XT5.  Now the 1st generation SRX, that was pretty blocky looking.

The unlock button on the key fob for my parents' Exploder doesn't work, so I have to unlock it with the actual key.

The thing is so fucking stupid that when you UNLOCK THE CAR WITH THE KEY THE ALARM GOES OFF.  IF YOU PUSH THE DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON FOR THE OTHER DOORS IT GETS EVEN LOUDER.

WHY THE FUCK.

Try the driver door.

Odyssey alarm goes off if I use the key on passenger door, and keeps going until I unlock driver door with key. (power locks doesn't do it)

Because you didn't turn the alarm off?

My Accord's alarm worked the same way. The key fob locked/unlocked the doors and armed/disarmed the alarm. The physical key (and interior lock switches) locked/unlocked the door but didn't affect the alarm.

If you lock it with the physical key or the interior lock switches, does the alarm also go off if you unlock with the physical key?

That poor owner.  $100k in depreciation in 5 years over 10k miles.  Can you imagine a $10/mile cost to own, not including gas, maintenance, or insurance?

No.

But then again I can't imagine spending that sort of coin on a (non-collector's) car and basically never driving it either.

It's an a Hyundai dealer of all places too.  He probably had so many issues in the first 10k miles he traded it in on a Genesis

EDIT:  Checked the carfax.  3 owners, first did <700 miles in 2 years of ownership.  Ended up going to auction and Florida and this Hyundai dealership bought it for some reason :wtf:

For the most part, I think BMW makes turds in terms of owning experience, but Jalopnik is actually right here.  These are killer deals:

Used to know a guy (OK, I drove him around) that had vacation homes in several places. All of them were fully equipped as if he lived there full time: wardrobe, food, sporting goods, basically the whole shebang. If he went and bought new golf clubs for instance, he would buy five identical sets and have the duplicates shipped to his different houses just so he didn't have to worry about luggage. There were of course at least two cars parked at each place as well. How often they were replaced is a mystery to me, but they weren't old and werent cheap: and were barely ever driven.

IMO a 4 banger Bimmer is not a deal at any price. It's like a Rustang without the V8. OK, it exists, but why sell yourself short? Get an old x35i car, a beater Corolla and an extended warranty.

Or it was bought by some wealthy retiree who then had some kind of health issue that prevented them from driving it and eventually they, or the family, sold it.
