No, they haven't taken it out on the road yet - but some interesting pictures.

W140
It's remarkable how good the W140 still looks on the inside and out.
I think it's a step backwards. The rear is definitely smaller in the new one, his head is touching the headliner.
BMW is about to make a boatload of money.

Its interior is way better than the new one, IMO.

I noticed that too...are there any specific specs yet?

I haven't seen any, also look at his shoulder height in both. The older has a higher back which I like as well when in the rear.
The new interior looks so bland and even "junky" looking when compared to the other interiors.
You can also tell by the position of his legs in both pics, the new one has him seated higher.
You're right, it's clean but too clean. There is no suppleness to almost any of it.

The center stack is almost entirely plastic.
The wood doesn't look rich at all, it's plastic as well.

I'm sure the wood is real wood, but it does look plasticy also. The previous gen had a nice real looking wood trim.
Nothing like a really rich woodgrain in a luxury sedan.
I have really warmed up to the new interior, but than the 7-series' imho, if not up to the standards of the A8 or Phaeton.
I'm still not digging it yet.
I'm liking the W220 the best. It is the most fluid; everything flows into another thing.
I am very quickly warming up to the W221, though.

Exactly, a S-class should flow, the W221 doesn't. Those fender flares are dreadful from every angle :(.

The AMG version looks a lot better, but on the regular version it is just hideous.
Extremely nasty
