Idk they're perfectly fine. I'd rather have a CVT over an automatic that never knows what gear it's supoosed to be in

I guess I've just been in unresponsive CVTs - the ones that always rubberband around the RPM range but the noise doesn't have any correlation to an increase in speed. I'll have to go test drive a new Subie or something.

What I've experienced: Push hard on accelerator > wait a few seconds > waaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH7000RPMWEREALLGONNADIE > wait a few more seconds in the meantime > car finally starts to pick up speed

Slow cars suck no matter what transmission is in them.

I enjoyed the CVTs in the last Accord and current Maxima.

Slow cars benefit greatly from normal old manuals.

Not knowing what you had, it could have sucked for multitudinous reasons, but a decent manual will make a slow car better in almost every case I can think of, up to and including a Yugo GV.

My Civic was still better with 3 pedals than 2 for sure, but better is not necessarily good.
