Well, I saw a lot of cars today. A Continental GT, 3 Vettes, a Plymouth Prowler, a 6er, but nothing prepared me for seeing a lightly disguised 2007 C class. I saw the whole thing perfectly, and I just whipped my camera behind me to take this view. I know its not perfect, but hey, I was driving 40 and it was going 40 in the opposite direction. I can tell everyone how it looked, because I remember it exactly in my mind. It was lightly disguised in black foam.
Thats it.
It had a certain hunkered down look, and I recognized it as a future C class because of the big Merc grill. It was bigger than the current C class, and it was almost as big as a previous gen 5 series. If you have specific questions, then ask, because I remember exactly how it looks in my mind...I just couldnt get my camera out in time to get a good pic.
whoops you already answered my questions. :D

It was very lightly disguised. I could pretty much see everything! :o
Nevermind, I've got another: what type of exhaust pipes did it have? (i.e. dual, quad, not visible)
QuoteNevermind, I've got another: what type of exhaust pipes did it have? (i.e. dual, quad, not visible)
I could not make out exhaust pipes...I dont think they were visible...sort of like the E Class.
not much in the pic, all i can see is a piece of trim that looks like its broken in your rover.
Why didnt you turn around and follow it!?

He thinks I saw an E Class....let me assure you, this was not an e class. It was disguised in black foam, and had a much pointier nose than an E Class. It was also smaller.

I still cant believe I saw it...I had a huge adrenaline rush, whipped the camera behind my head, and took the picture. And from what I saw, its going to be a very good looking car. :)
Sweet...I also like how your rear windows there have 2 levels...a regular level and a higher (almost skylight-like level)...it looks really sweet. :)

Definitely. However, it couldn't hurt to ask The Car Connection for the use of some additional shots, and Edmunds or whoever for the use of that rendering, and it would make the article much more readable.
Dan, what do you think?

I'd say you're on the right track asking TurboDan.
I'll post a thread with the article, I'll lock it so no one can reply, you look at it, and then tell me what you think. ok?
Sure, I could drop an e-mail to Car Connection. I'm sure they'd let us use it, since their URL is written right on the image - free promotion for them.
I'll drop them an e-mail tonight. I'm going away on Sunday though, so I won't be able to work on the site for a week though. I'll check in on the forums, of course - but Internet access on cruise ships ain't cheap!

I am going away for the weekend. Listen, I'll send you the article by e-mail, and then you use it when you get permission and edit it. Just say the spy shot is courtesy of Dave, or BMWDave, or something like that.
You'll also have to ask AutomobileMag if you can use their rendering.

1. Crop your spy pic closer to the actual vehicle, and then resize all three images to the same dimensions.
2. Add where you saw the car.

Disguised cars are usually black, with black rims. I saw it up close and I have a mental image of it in my mind, but the picture was taken at 40 mph going in the opposite direction and I just swung the camera behind my head.

As long as the Focus has the NOS sticker on the lower rear quarter panel it wins hands down. Throw in a type R sticker and it lays waste to the Enzo.

Thanks for posting it. Yep, thats the article. A pretty weird one, if you ask me.
QuoteQuoteQuoteQuoteQuoteI remember a few years back when some mag compared a $9K Kia Rio to a $5k Porsche bicycle. The Kia won.
Probably MT. They also compared a Ford Focus to a Lamborghini Gallardo.
it wasn't any old focus. It was a RWD focus with a Tremec 6-speed manual and a 450hp 5.0l Cammer V8. :praise:
It was still a weird comparo though. ;)
not as wierd as a stock focus vs a gallardo.
That would be absolutely crazy. At least these cars were similar performance wise.

No, it was some small mag that used to be sold at my local Safeway (though I haven't seen it anywhere else). I'll have to look that up.
I just suggested it because MT is known for some weird comparos. ;)
I have to hope/assume that the Focus beat the Lambo. ;)
 I think it did
I'll have to check it up to be sure.
