JLR's plants are shut down due to chip supply chain issues. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-56841946

Thanks, 'rona!

Isn't Subaru similarly affected?

I have been hearing about this across the industry for a while. I assume it is impacting everyone.

Most manufacturers are experiencing a chip shortage causing slowdowns as well as shutdowns in some plants.

As I understand it, most chip manufacturers are in the far East, South Korea, China of course and especially Taiwan, though the US and Japan have facilities as well.  Very expensive to build a chip manufacturing plant.

China taking over Taiwan (and TSMC) would be catastrophic for the Western world. TSMC is light years ahead of everybody else with their chip fabs.

Grand Cherokee production is stopped for a number of reasons (but sunroofs are a big one)
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Likely one of the major reasons that China has been making overt threats against taking over Taiwan.  The West should be nervous.  They should also start building some more chip manufacturing plants.

TSMC is breaking ground on new fabs in the US. It's a good hedge.

So is Intel in Arizona as well.  Smart moves.
