What the verdict, CSers?
ahhh, not today
MPLexus from C/D took those pics, BTW.
QuoteMPLexus from C/D took those pics, BTW.
well he won't have a problem with us posting them. And, I suspect ToV is more concerned about bandwidth than copyright protection.
Not a bad looking car, a bit too rounded but attractive overall.
Those are great pics.

If they said not to post them, don't post them. Just register and view them, or wait until tomorrow (MP said that they'd be up for general viewing by then).

You know whats rather sad? My 79 civic gets better milage, and the older minis get better then the newer, thats just sh*t.
Not really, when you consider that your Civic seats only two people (unless the rear seat occupants had their legs amputated and probably goes from 0-60 in 20 seconds.

So is it up and running now?
The coupe looks butt ugly. The sedan....uhm, well I cant really say yet.
3 times the 3hreed.
3 times the 3radrenaline. :D
More picts of the upcoming Civic...this time, a little more revealing.

Looks like the front of a TL met with a Prius for the sedan, and an Ion quad coupe for the coupe version. Coupe isn't too shabby looking. The sedan is another story.
Looks like a pair of Saturn Ions...
<_<
The coupe looks ok, but I am worried that the sedan will be humpty dumpty on wheels.
The shot of the front looks like a Saturn Ion. :(

My crude image cleanup.
The coupe looks nice, the sedan is an improvement, but still not quite as stylish as the last generation Jetta or the current Mazda 3.
Ohhh Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! This reminds me of something.....Feeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt!
That sedan looks utterly bloated and disgusting....it cannot even compete with any other sedan in its class styling wise, IMO.

The high beltline is becoming more and more common. Guess you better start getting used to the look?

I have nothing wrong with a high beltline...it looks very good on some cars. This Civic looks horribele...Ion from the front, Corolla from side. Honda can do better than this.
I guess they were trying to make the front look a bit like the TL's, instead they made it look like the Ion's which isn't a good thing at all. The rest of it is no worse than the Corolla or Jetta, but not as good as the Spectra, Focus, Cobalt, or 3.

Both the Corolla and Jetta look more synchronized and fluid, IMO.

Both look like blobs of formless metal imho, just like this Civic does.

Design is subjective :)
This might be one of those cars you just have to see in person before making a final judgement.
Some cars, like the latest Subaru Legacy, looked incredible in pictures, yet dull in person. Others look so-so in pictures, and pretty good in person.
I'm not sure but I think anyway I look at this turd it will still be a turd.

I don't know what you are talking about, the current Legacy looks great in pics and in person as did the prevous gen.

I agree. But design is subjective I guess. I think the current legacy is the best looking mainstream sedan at the moment.
Well if you say so Dave.
I think it's a nice clean design that looks more upscale than before. I believe that the red coupe in the TCC pictures is an Si with the tailpipe and supposed badge on the grille. The Ion headlights have me nonplussed but I'm still looking forward to its release. It seems that it will also be available with leather to match Mazda and Toyota. And is that a nav screen?
We'll have a 30k dollar civic now, woooo hoooo.

Where do you see a nav screen?
I'm missing this navi too.
Looked at this picture again, the hood is way too short.

They have pics up at The Car Connection, and in one of the coupe shots there's some sort of information screen in the interior that may or not house a navigation screen.

Oh, I see what you mean. Yes, from the buttons on the side that looks to be a navigation screen.
(For other people who want to know, expand the picture of the coupe, and you'll see it.)
I'd post a picture but I'm not sure if they allow hotlinking.

Dont worry about that...anyone can go to the link.

This must be the hybrid version
I hope the move the wheels out some for the production model.
QuoteI hope the move the wheels out some for the production model.
Its probably all the camoe that it appears that way.

I don't see any camo except the white tape on the taillights in that last pic.

What tips you off that it's the hybrid?
Unique rear antenna, little rear lip spoiler and a unique wheel design that hasn't been seen before.
QuoteUnique rear antenna, little rear lip spoiler and a unique wheel design that hasn't been seen before.
The rear antenna is likely for satelite radio, the wheels might be optional plus designs probably aren't finalized yet, and the spoiler might be an option.
Those mirrors look a bit freakish don't they? They're larger than the ones on the truck in front of it!

I don't think so. Sat radio antenna looks like this:

The current Civic hybrid has that same funky antenna in the front:

and the little rear lip spoiler:

I don't think the lip spoiler is anything, but I agree that the atenna is odd, is there a particularly reason the Civic Hybrid would have an antenna like that and regular model wouldn't?
QuoteI don't think the lip spoiler is anything, but I agree that the atenna is odd, is there a particularly reason the Civic Hybrid would have an antenna like that and regular model wouldn't?
Dunno. The current non-hybrid Civic has an in-glass antenna. I think they feel the need to distinguish the hybrid version with some unique visual features.

No one would notice a different antenna except through careful examination.

No, the car geeks like you ;), I never pay that much attention to Civics.
With the antennas looking that similar I will place my bet that that white model is a Hybrid. But I'm still holding out hope that theyd offer the Coupe in Hybrid too.
Damn. There was a rumor going around that we were going to get those shots as an exclusive. Apparently it didn't pan out.

It just occurred to me that the reason they have an external antenna for the hybrid is because of the high voltage battery pack sitting behind the rear seat. That must cause interference with the in glass antenna.

That makes sense, I guess it must be the Hybrid model then.
Looks like I'm in the minority when I say I like the design. I like that they went with thin headlights, and I like the car's general shape. I don't like the coupe's prevoius-M45-inspired taillights, but it's otherwise a nice design.
