I put it here because let's face it, this is the new mainstream.

The blue one in the last pic looks pretty nice. But damn it to hell with the rotary gear selectors.

I am not happy enough to look at that on a daily basis

The front end is so very bland.  I mean, I guess it's better than the overstyled antics of recent Toyotas, but that mug is about as memorable as a bar of generic soap.

Looks cheap to me. I thought it was a rendering based on the Niro.

Like a 3rd world country's bland & cheap mobile.

Rotary gear selector is great.  Why have a stick if it's not standard?

Body is nice and clean, sans wrinkles and creases.  The front is a bit unremarkable though.

My wife will love it.

It looks undersized.

It has a nice clean profile.  Much nicer than the current version, but I still like the Gen 1 better.

Yup.

I don't like the direction grills are going. Why did they rip off Kia?

Very Mazda-ish.

Same clean lines as the CX-5

It looks like it has a larger greenhouse than the CX-5. I don't like the headlights that wrapped onto the hood area. They look awkward and end up having more UV degradation.

Too lazy to do the comparison, but I'm not sure, size wise, where the Escape fits with the Mazda CUVs, CX-3 or CX-5.  CX-3 doesn't look very good.

Generic and underwhelming.   :(

The new Focus looks good, but its design language doesn't translate well into the SUV/CUV segment.

It's a safe design that won't offend anyone. They'll sell a metric buttload.

Some good info...

I'd opt for the 2.0 EcoBoost.  Great little engine.

It looks weird. I'm disappointed. Hopefully the new MKC (Corsair?) improves on this.

Different rear window too. Looks more promising, like an Aviator embryo.

Makes it look MUCH bigger. I wouldn't have even guessed it was the same platform.

Yup. I look forward to detailing one.  Usually takes a couple years before I see newer models.

I mean, I wouldn't rush out to buy one but it's not horrific or anything.

Where you purposely looking for the most obnoxious CX-5 color you could find   Jesus, I hope no one actually bought in this hot neon pink.

As for the Escape, I hated it and found it boring when I first saw but its growing on me and almost looks handsome now.  That they took out 200lbs from it is nice.

I think that's the normal red paint. Just looks super saturated in that pic

Yup, it should be Soul Red, but somebody dicked with the contrast in Photoshoop.

Hey, it was just a good profile shot.

As for the Escape, longer, lower, wider and weighs less.  I hope it's not too much lower, but wider would be good.

I like the styling of this. The face of the car is smiling without being cartoonish.  Perfect amount of cladding.  Not overdone like Subaru.  I think it's great actually.

I'm looking forward to seeing it now.  It's likely our next vehicle; unless the mini-Bronco is more appealing.
