Wow. You guys are way more patient than me.

Owning one is like an abusive relationship. It starts out great, it's a lot of fun for a while, and the issues start gradually. Before you know it you're getting the shit beat out of you every week and telling your friends that "it's not a big deal, I'm sure it loves me". 

You're dead on about the Passat's AC and heated seats. The GTI also has the shittiest AC ever, but its heated seats could double as my stove

Yep. Replacing the auxiliary fan (ironically the only thing that didn't generate an error code when it died) improved the AC performance up to "acceptable for Canada" standards. Only car I've ever driven where the seats could get so hot you were concerned for your safety though.

I had a B6 Passat 2008 - 2016. Run it from new till 180k km, and while it did have it share of problems, it had nothing of that .... amd neither the 2002 - 2008 B5.5

I mean, statistically speaking they can't have all been as buggy as mine. I assume.
