I rear-ended a Honda Ridgeline while I was driving home from work in yesterdays snow storm. He was stopped a a traffic light waiting to turn left, my car slowed down to around 5 or 10 mph then it hit a patch of ice and slid into the right rear bumper of the Honda. Since the bumper of a Ridgeline is much higher than the bumper on a Saab 9-3 the driver-side headlight ended up absorbing most of the impact instead of the bumper. While the front of my car is smashed up the Honda just looks like it was in a small fender bender. The right side of the bumper is dented and pushed in a few inches, nothing else appeared to be damaged.
Most of the damage on my car is to the headlight, hood and quarter panel. There doesn't appear to be any structural damage and it drove fine for the rest of the drive home.
Accident damage pisses me off. Sorry about that. It makes it worse when you're the one who does the rear-ending. You can only get pissed at yourself.
Glad to see the damage isn't severe and you're not hurt.
That really sucks, sorry to see that. And now you have to go through working with insurance and finding a body shop you trust. Good luck, hopefully it'll be good as new in no time.
Yikes! Sorry to see that. Glad it was minor with no injuries though. Were you charged with anything, or did the officer cut some slack on the accident report? Roads were absolutely horrendous yesterday. Worst they've been all year, I think.
Accidents are shit, man. Fuck that.
sorry!
Looks like what happened to my subaru (before I bought it.) Mine looks like they replaced the light, dented the front edge of the fender out, painted it, called it good.
(different than you, though, I don't care- it's a 14yr old car...)

I wasn't charged with anything and the report mentions poor weather conditions and snow on the road.

Hopefully the body shop puts more effort into my car than that, but it's 8 years old so I don't care if it's 100% perfect.
If it's 8 years old they'll try and find used parts. But being a Saab that could turn out to be a pain in the ass. So you could get new stuff and probably an aftermarket or recondition headlamp.
Looks like a new fender, headlamp and it's hard to tell if that hood is bent up bad or not by that picture. But I'd say an new hood too. And repair in the bumper from what I can see and time
of the radiator support and apron. Not really that big of a deal. But it always sucks getting hit.
As long as you're okay and terbeau w00sh still happens...
I got the car back from the shop.

Looks great!
It also looks like you have some work to do on the passenger side headlight.

I hate moder plastic headlamps. Glass ones looked better and lasted longer. And pop ups didn't have this problem at all.
You can wax and buff the shit out of one but it will never look as good as new again. And you've got to do it every other
year.

Did you want a fifteen paragraph treatise on the negative affects of accidents on owner's morale, car value, taxpayer money, insurance charges, and the general aesthetics of the automotive world? ;)

I plan on fixing that soon. I didn't know how faded they were until the new one was put on.
