Title: Interesting Youtube query

I honestly don't know which one I would choose. Except BMW; I wouldn't buy a new BMW.

Easily Audi.  Toss-up between BMW and Mercedes (never really been into either), and Alfa wayyyyyy at the bottom of the list right underneath "shoot myself in the face."

I wouldn't buy a Mercedes at the price ranges I'm interested in. Their entry level cars and CUVs are garbage.

None of the above > BMW > Audi > Mercedes > Alfa

Audi for me.  New BMWs suck.  Mercedes sucks.  I like Alfa, but I'm not in the market for an automatic sedan.

The steering on my dad's new A4 is completely numb. Otherwise, that car is awesome, but that pretty much kills it for me.

I'd have a hard time picking an A4 over a Golf R now that it has the virtual cockpit

I've spoken about the 3 at length. C/E are pretty but too feminine IMO. I would take the risk on an Alfa after the inevitable huge discounts but the back seat is too small. Looking forward to see their 5 series fighter, and even more importantly/hopefully the LX replacements built on that platform

Could be. The steering in my brother's S4 isn't great; the speed sensitive weighting sort of kicks on when you don't expect t sometimes. His S5 is much better though.

I still think I'd go BMW even with their latest offerings being not up to the enthusiast standards of previous generations... I like the simplistic layout of their interior and they are one of the last places you can get a front engine rear drive manuals trans lux car

I wasn't crazy about I Drive. To be fair though, I can't think of any systems in this segment that aren't less than OK. I do like the 340i 6MT combo, but I'm also OK with autos in this segment. I feel like an IS350-F or XE S would be just as fun to drive for like $20K less

Audi
then BMW
then Mercedes
I would not consider Alfa.

Even if you could service them at your local Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/RAM dealer?

Not much help if they have to keep a spot in the bay with your name on it.

If you ever had the pleasure of trying to work with a dodge/jeep/chrysler/ram dealer - you would know thats not exactly a benefit

To be fair, the dealership service at Chrysler with the wife's minivan was much better than what I've gotten recently at the GMC dealer with the Acadia.

But both of those I had to visit much more than is reasonable.

I got the joys of no loaner cars even for warranty  work (but their shuttle service was available if you worked within 5 miles of the dealer).  I experienced the joy of having a high pitch noise from the ac compressor, took it in every single time I was near the place, printed out the TSB for the issue - only for them to say they couldn't replicate it and never did fix it.

My favorite thing is not being able to schedule an oil change because "we have this great convenient thing called Mopar Express where you just show up and they will do it"... To bad the hours are limited, not posted anywhere, and last time I waited 2 f'in hours because they were busy... So convenient though!

...oh forgot to mention the 30 day lead time to get a front shock that almost caused me to not have a valid inspection... On a vehicle that was still in production installing thousands of the shocks I needed every single day on the assembly line

Every GM dealership I've dealt with has been worse.

The Acadia is currently getting the trans rebuilt. It has 86,000 miles on it, and has never towed a thing. It's a known issue, thousands have suffered this same failure. The earlier models had their warranties automatically extended to cover it: but not mine. I'm six months out of warranty; the damn service advisor had them start working on it before I ever approved anything and tried to stick me with a $5000 bill on a repair I never authorized.

It's being repaired at a private shop up the road for half that, and I had to threaten to sue them to get my car back.

Which trans?  GM transmissions are said to be quite good.

Yeah, GM is one of the few companies that I trust to make an automatic transmission.

The 6T75. They've acknowledged the problem on the 2007-09 models, but they didn't fix it for the later models either. They say they have: they haven't.

If it makes you feel better, Ford uses this transmission too.

According to my transmission guy, he rarely sees the Fords. Whether this is because they did something different, or if Ford is actually fixing these under warranty without trying to scam their customers is a good question.

The '09 Escape that my daughter has that my wife had previously, has had no problems after 215000+ kilometers.  Could be a weight thing.

1. You have an Acadia?

2. That transmission is not great. It fails like clockwork on the LAMBDA cars, but it's not uncommon to see it dead in a 3.6L Saturn VUE or 3.6L Chevy Malibu.

I think we can all agree that GM cars suck and there's no reason to buy GM ever, except perhaps a Corvette.

The "real people" ads alone are enough to make never want to get a GM product, before you even add in the fact that they're shitty, poorly designed, and probably will kill you.

My friend sees the Fords all the time (Mostly the Edge)
