A design firm from Poland dubbed 2sympleks has unveiled designs for a rescue vehicle that could save intrepid travelers.
Dubbed the Surgo Mountain Rescue Vehicle Concept, the creation is both lightweight and spacious and would have enough room for two seats in the front and two additional rows of three seats. There would also be enough space for rescue tools in the rear and straps for a spinal board on the roof.
2sympleks also envisages the Surgo to have a set of large offroad tires and dual springs and shocks to ensure it can handle even the most difficult terrain. Unfortunately, no powertrain details have been provided but a contraption so focused on maximizing interior space like the Surgo could benefit greatly from some kind of electric propulsion.
At this stage, the design firm has only built a scale model and has yet to announce any plans for a full-size version.

Let me know when it comes with Sno-Cat tracks, then it might be useful. That just looks like a well-equipped full-size truck with big tires and upgraded suspension, which is literally enough to get you almost anywhere there is an actual road. This thing isn't going to do better off of roads than that, and you really can't drive any significant distance in the U.S. on public land (most rugged areas with people who need to be rescued are public land) off of roads. The current paradigm of highly-trained people getting to an injured or lost person by foot, ATV, or truck, and then using a helicopter to extract them if needed, is pretty damn effective.
But it's electric so it has to be absolutely amazing! (Not. Range issues etc...)
But Carbon Footprints! Where are they?

I think it would be downright stupid to make this thing electric. ZERO RANGE. And then depending on where it is stationed it will need battery juice to power an air conditioning system or heating system, plus medical devices onboard.
Honestly, for this thing a diesel engine makes perfect sense.
I don't understand the point of this over a helicopter. Looks cool though.
