Kia Stinger Expected To Start At $32,795

Prices for the long-awaited 2018 Kia Stinger are expected to start at $32,795 including destination fees when U.S. sales commence in December.
A company spokesperson revealed to Car and Driver that the entry-level model will use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 255 hp. Additionally, the base model will come standard with rear-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic transmission, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and leather seats.
If customers want to opt for all-wheel drive, the price of the base Stinger will rise by $2,200. Prices then increase to $37,895 for the Stinger Premium with added features including an 8-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch display in the instrument cluster, a sunroof and LED headlights.
As for the much more potent Stinger GT with its 365 hp, twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6, prices will begin at approximately $39,895.
Three different trim levels of the Stinger GT will be sold. The base model has similar features to the base 2.0-liter Stinger but adds some more sporty exterior panels. For $44,395, customers can purchase the Stinger GT1 that combines the features of the regular Stinger Premium with the more aggressive styling and V6 of the GT. Last but not least will be the $50,395 Stinger GT2, complete with a limited-slip differential, head-up display, automated emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic headlights, adaptive cruise control and a power-opening trunk.
Kia says it will release final pricing details for the Stinger before the end of the year.

Base price of $33,000 for a passenger car sounds luxury-grade to me. It's Kia's competitor to an A5/S5.

GM was in the game back when V8s were pretty standard in compact, "economy" cars like the Falcon, Gremlin, Nova, and Maverick. A V8 in a passenger car for them is old-hat. Since the industry shift to FWD in the 80s, new V8 passenger cars have gone from the norm to a curiosity. Even among the established players. When was the last time any of the big 3 offered a V8 in a non-full-sized sedan? Hell, Ford's last new V8 sedan in the US came 20 years ago. To see relatively new players like Hyundai/Kia stepping up at a time when the trend is towards downsizing to fewer cylinders and turbocharging, is heartening for enthusiasts. Hyundai/Kia have gone where long-established players like Honda have refused to.
Well, Hyundai/Kia have been going for broke for the last 30 years, and getting payback for it all the way. So this hail mary strategy doesn't surprise me. And now that they have a driver's car expertise on hand hopefully they nail the execution.
I'm more excited about the little GTI fighter they have coming though. They are saying it's the real deal. I like cars like the Stinger and the G but I think I may be more of a hot hatch kind of guy. If they give the Elantra sedan the N treatment.....
In any case I am glad Hyundai/Kia are looking out for us enthusiasts.

Yeah, I think it's the same Tau V8 they've been using. Honestly, not a bad engine. Direct injection, over 400 hp. It's a pretty solid engine.

But I make everything I drive hot. GTI would get DWS06s, BBC RSB, coilovers and aggressive bushings all around, plus APR tune. Thats pretty mean. I prefer the looks of the GTI too

It's not even the best tire in the class IMO. The BFG Comp 2 A/S has stronger sidewalls that provide better cornering and steering feel, plus better rain performance.

Obviously you don't know what you're talking about. DWS-06 is the best tire for street, autox and track. No one needs anything more.
