If you could have a manufacturer build you your perfect car, what would you have them build? Let's set a realistic budget of under $60,000 (MSRP if they mass produced it... not cost of developing a single car, which would be astronomical).
For me:

A modern interpretation of the Lancia Stratos HF. Not a Fucking Ferrari engined, $500,000 piece of unobtainium. No... I'm talking 2300 lbs with the Ford Focus RS' 350 hp 2.3T mounted midship, with a slick 6 speed manual gearbox. No electronic driver nanny aids, except switch defeatable TCS, and ABS brakes.
A Sonic RS with at least 180HP
Audi Allroad w/the S4 drivetrain (i.e., 354 hp).
1st or 2nd gen Camaro with modern materials for a stiffer chassis, modern suspension design, LS/LT engine packages, etc.
Basically a 6th gen Camaro with the body of an old one. (Obviously sacrificing some crash protection and stuff, due to the old school bumpers and thinner, airbag-less pillars)
First or second gen STi.
Current gen Miata with the TT RX7 motor.

Yes, did you read my post? Same design, but with the Ford 2.3T and under $50k.
Easy, ATS-V with the LT swapped in and no smudge tastic piano black material everywhere in the interior.
Just buy me a low millage FD RX-7 and I'll keep the leftover $15K for engine rebuilds.

Ahh, I see.
~3100lb 4 door BRZ with a 330HP version of the Subaru 3.6 for me
New Infiniti FX with the 400HP 3.0tt, torque vectoring, ZF8 (throw in the towel Nissan) and Android Auto/Apple Carplay for wifey

Current gen Miata with the TT RX7 motor.
Mazda MX-6. Unrelated to its late 20th Century namesake, the MX-6 is one size class up from its MX-5 brother. Naturally aspirated 3.0L lightweight straight-six, with oversquare bores, producing about 280 HP.
Z4M Roadster, but like 300-400 pounds lighter.

Nailed it. I guess I would want a different turbo setup though. The twin turbo FD motor is so complicated. Sequential turbos with vacuum lines running every where. I'd want two little turbos, one for each rotor.

Either of the above would get my vote. :ohyeah:
They do make that ATS-V.... in coupe form at least. It's called the Camaro SS
RWD Mazda 6. It could look close to the current car as possible. Put the regular 4 turbo for the normal version. But make a V8 or at very least V6 skyactive motor. Offered with both transmissions as well.
As much as I'd like a new RX-7 I'm getting older and a sports sedan under $50K that gave you a close BMW feel with Mazda price would be nice.
But it will never happen.

You can get fairly close.

Luxed up Odyssey or Pacifica with real wood on steering wheel and dashboard, premium cowhide, premium paint, upgraded brakes, and AWD capability.
Because anything other than minivan for long haul travel for families with young kids is impractical, stupid, egotistical, and showy according to the Spin

That's a cool car but no way in hell I'd pay $50K for a KIA. I wouldn't pay that much for the Mazda I said I with they would make.

But the V8 ATS-V would also come with visibility and a backseat!
My perfect car? I'm thinking a ridiculously over chromed '58 Olds with a later model Olds 455 and turbo 400 trans, front discs and power everything. Leave the outside just like OE. Maybe a modern sound system.

WRX STI wagon would be perfect
Or an S2000 hatchback. That would be cool
4 door M2. Or M2 station wagon
M240i or M2 with rear rx8 style suicide doors
'69 Charger with a Hotchkiss suspension and Hellcat powertrain swap.

2nd gen Charger ('68-'70) is the best looking car of all time. The attempt at retro dog dishes is sweet.
I'd opt for the '68 (I like the round taillights and undivided grill) and I'd go Viper suspension and brakes F&R, corresponding chassis strengthening and probably call it good with the 485 hp 6.4L Hemi and ZF8, with the Charger from Bullitt serving as inspiriation (triple black, RT trim, hubcups, albeit on much wider wheels):

991.2 lineup is damn near perfect. I'm not crazy about the cabrio or Targa's looks but I could deal. I don't think there are any bad permutations.

It's somewhat successful in Mexico but they ain't bringing the Alpine over AFAIK. We get mostly their 2nd tier "third world spec" lineaup that tends to be rebadged Nissans.

DCT, at least. It seems to be more than a Cayman too, unfortunelately.

For the German market the 718 Cayman starts at € 52,694, the A110 in the loaded Première Édition costs €58,000. For that money the Alpine gets you more I would argue. With the Porsche one would have to add €20.000 to the price. The prices of the lower spec Alpines will be revealed at Geneva.
Oh, that's more promising. With all that weight advantage over the Cayman, it might be the better car, too.

You guys should just buy a manual transmission and pedal box to shift in your living room. I wonder if you could tell the difference between that and a whole car.
