This pic will probably disappear soon; hopefully I'll get a new one up.

Anyways, after my random bambi-cide last wekend, the Pilot was totalled, and I was in need of a new car. I figured, in order to free up the budget for something fast and interesting I'd see what I could get for under $8000 and avoid having a payment.

Well, in a moment of madness I wnent and bougth this thing- for a little over two thousand. Its a 1991 Marquis Colony Park wagon with 57,000 miles on it, and will be the temporary kid hauler and commuter.

302. Alas, the 351 was apparently an option.

You can still swap over the parts from the Mustang Cobra.

When I was in the 4th grade, one of our neighbors carpooled my brothers, myself, and like 3 of her kids in something like that. There was literally seating for like 4 kids in the trunk/cargo area alone. Nice lady. The kids were out of control, though.

Come to think of it, it may have been an Olds or something...

Was it the side by side seats or the rear facing? I think the side by sides were all Fords.

Maybe. I'm going to need to chase down a wheel well trim piece and do some minor rust repair too. Never worked with this vinyl fake wood before.  I suppose it's just a peel and stick material, right?

How's the body...any rust?

Really solid overall. The right rear wheel well trim is missing and the mounting holes have started to rust, and there's some damage under the right tail light.

But for the price, nothing I'm worrying too much about.

I remember a friend in HS had one of these type of station wagons with a 3rd row seating back seat.. that thing was damn scary to rid in but shit, you can fit A LOT of people in it.

I can appreciate woody wagonss as much as anybody, but I would just rip all off and repaint the entire thing in some kind of root beer Kandy metallic coloure.

So, for the shocks, do you think it'd be worth it to go for the $100/corner Bilsteins instead of the $40 adjust-a-slushies?

One- piece side opening.

This is an older wagon, but like this (seats too)

The window has to be down, so if you put the key in and turn to the left, the window goes all the way down before the gate will unlock.

Ah, one of the side-opening types.  I vaguely recall my grandfather having a wagon like that back in the 80s.

Didn't they have a tailgate that would drop down as well as swing out.

That Mustang looks like a '70 Mach I I used to have.

They did. Mine might be one, but it wouldn't drop down when I tried. It may just be an adjustment that's needed. I know the "whale" GM wagins did that.

Two grand.

That amounts to eight grand added to the sports car budget. (Probably like 6500-7000 after tinkering with this, but still)
