picked this up Thursday for $7500. '01 740i Sport. 150k miles, and over $7k worth of new parts in it by the PO (who is a BMW tech).

Came with a trunkful of new parts, too (like new front cupholder, still in the box). Absolutely no excuses with this car. It's like brand new inside and out and you can eat off the engine compartment. Drives like a dream. Just a clean, damn near flawless example. Drove it from Fairfax VA back home to Pikesville, MD, a 3 hour drive with traffic, then on backroads, with a huge grin the whole way...

Wow is that clean for its age.  Or any age, really.  I like the color...what's it called?

ChrisV

It's called Anthracite, and it's got hints of a steel blue in the right light.

I swear the PO was a "no expense spared" kind of guy. And the price was a steal, compared to national averages for '01 Sports (usually over $10k for 100k miles with no records and needing work).

You should definitely take some pictures of it in the "right" light!  I can see some of the blue is coming through, but I want more!  That guy put a lot of work in.  Always tough to find such a prime example.  Keep it clean and that will be a classic not too far off.  If you ever need a detailer...

I love the colour, but I have never been a fan of those wheels. I hope you plan on replacing them.

As you may know, I almost got an Estoril one. Was in talks with Brandon for a couple weeks and we decided that his project with it should be seen through:

Nice, the e38 and e39 are still the only bmws I'd care to own.

I might, but I think those are the best factory BMW wheels ever made...

So what else are you driving these days chris, don't see you around here much.

Gorgeous! Best looking 7 series the world is ever likely to see. We won't see such clean and handsome designs ever again.

Wow. That is mint. Amazing buy.

Also, I think those M-parallels are one of the best looking OEM BMW wheels ever. I'd keep them.

Since the Volt is gone, I've been driving the Suburban. Was trying to gather parts for my '63 Comet to finish it, but I've realized that I really don't have much time to actually work on the car, so I'm selling the project and just going to occasionally wash and tweak on the 740i.

J/K, congrats, very nice find.  :ohyeah:

The overall shape to that car is so classic, it will never go out of style.

Yea I dont know what that is about.... they match the design perfectly. They are up there with the CSLs and the E36 M3 lightweight wheels. Top 5 OEM BMW wheel by a wide margin, esp over the busy E65 stuff

Considering his other builds... you've done the world justice by letting him go at it.  (No offense to you obviously)

None taken. As much as I wanted to buy his car, I want him to put the S62/6 speed combo in there and just make it wild.
