I don't use A/C even when I had it because I hate knowing and feeling the power loss.

Get a car with enough power and you won't notice it.

That's nice. You making a point not to use A/C though doesn't mean everyone else has to though. You are like those guys who run around in shorts in the winter. "What? What? I don't even feel it. I'm not cold. What? What? Bro it feels like summer *jogs in place*"

Lol someone is butthurt.

Did I ever tell you or anyone else to not use AC or pull it out of their car? It's useless to me where I live because I've always lived without it.

You said it's useless in California. Being that folks where you live use it, I'd have to disagree. I work with HVAC at my job. You are what we call an "outlier" No butthurt here, I have transcended such emotional frivolity.

I just said "useless to me". Yes, I'm an outlier.

I thought this thread was asking what we, individually, would pick if we won the lottery. I didn't realize we needed the 'SPIN's approval before buying said car. My bad.

Modern cars will shut the AC off when you go full throttle anyway to give you max power.  Never really felt it in my old Mustang, nor my new one, but I do notice a drop in fuel economy when using it.  Definitely felt it in my lower powered cars (Nissan, Mazda, and VW), plus fuel economy penalty.

I think it's more heat soak than anything. Z felt like it lost 20-30HP in the summer even with the A/C off or at WOT.

If you can feel the A/C power drain then something is wrong with those horses. I feel zero difference in my cars. Last time I felt a difference was in my '99 Plymouth Breeze.

I wouldn't abandon all my friends and family for better weather.  If I won the lottery, I'd have a vacation home too, but I wouldn't move away from Ohio

I abandoned all of my friends and family for mountains. Best decision ever.

You can make new friends and with lottery money, you could go home to visit whenever you want.

I'm a little flabbergasted. Family and friends are important. But not enough to stay in Ohio if I have a choice  I communicate with my mom regularly via cell phone... I think Mr H has one, I have seen him in the cell phone thread.

This might warrant another thread

My best friends are mostly all in the area.  Family is here too.  I'd probably split time between Ohio and a beach somewhere

But I wouldn't just abandon this place.  What's life without your friends and family?

Like I said I still keep in touch with my mom. But my dad and I have only just become amicable again after a few years of beefing. And shit is still touch and go. Haven't seen him since my wedding in 2012. Friends come and go too. I have some true blue lifelong best friends, but they are all over the country. And friends from the neighborhood I grew up in mostly aren't doing shit so I don't keep up with them. Sad truth is most friendships hinge heavily on convenience. I can count the # of people I truly consider my friends on one hand, and that's including my wife. But I have dozens if not hundreds of "acquaintances".

It's 2016.... strong relationships are portable. Life is too short to win the lotto and stay in Ohio

I don't listen to opinions about Ohio from people who have never been here. I was just driving through Cincy yesterday and found some cool houses in a really cool neighborhood. With the hills around the city sometimes it looks more like San Fran than the flat boring Ohio you guys are probably thinking of.

Generally speaking, people who move from one place to somewhere else do so because they didn't like living where they left from.  Doesn't make where they left from a bad place, just not the right place for them.  My dad, after spending his entire life in upstate NY, moved to Florida a few years back and loves it.  All I hear is how great his little town down there is and how all of his friends down there are people who moved from the Rust belt like him and they also love it and would never go back.  You couldn't pay me to live in Florida.  Not that upstate NY is the greatest place on the planet, or that I'd stick around if I landed a big jackpot, but I'd absolutely live up here over Florida if those were my two choices.  Different strokes for different folks.
