The eastern portion of both states are on the west end of the Appalachians (mountains and foothills).  Probably accounts for about 20-25% of Kentucky and 25-30% of Ohio.  Hocking Hills in Ohio is where some of the car mags based in the midwest (like C&D) go to do road testing because you get winding, hilly roads and it's fairly scenic for photo shoots.

The variety of amateur racing/autox events within driving distance is also higher here than most anywhere else. I love the LA car scene but you have to deal with traffic and other than San Diego, it's a pretty long drive to go to an event in another city. That's why I'd only have a vacation home there - go to some of the big events each year but have a home base further east where land is cheap and I can hit some of the other awesome events.

Yea I would avoid LA at all costs. You can't get the PCH anywhere else, but there are equally great roads elsewhere in the country. Anywhere there are mountains there will be good roads.

I see. I was asking because I'm pretty ignorant of places outside my small bubble.

I do know that northern GA, South Carolina, etc have some amazing roads as well. I'd love to do a cross country motorcycle trip at some point.

New York has more, if you count Grover Cleveland twice, as both the 22nd and 24th presidents of the United States. 

Still, Ohio has inspired those six men to do anything they could to get out of there, even if it meant going to DC, a city built on a swamp.

Generally speaking, people who move from one place to somewhere else do so because they didn't like living where they left from.  Doesn't make where they left from a bad place, just not the right place for them.  My dad, after spending his entire life in upstate NY, moved to Florida a few years back and loves it.  All I hear is how great his little town down there is and how all of his friends down there are people who moved from the Rust belt like him and they also love it and would never go back.  You couldn't pay me to live in Florida.  Not that upstate NY is the greatest place on the planet, or that I'd stick around if I landed a big jackpot, but I'd absolutely live up here over Florida if those were my two choices.  Different strokes for different folks.

If I won the lottery, I'd move to different parts of the world every few years. Not necessarily because I don't like where I am, but rather because life is short and I'd like to experience the world. Not just go see the sites for a couple of weeks, I'd like to experience what it really feels like to live there.

- Spain
- Somewhere in the Mediterranean
- Japan
- South American (although I dunno about that...I want to live for a while with my money instead of getting murdered)
- Somewhere nice in India, if that's even a thing

- Somewhere in Africa although I'm not sure where

Once I exhaust the places I want to try, I'll probably be at the age where I want to have a more permanent home location. Then I'll settle down there.
