Haven't the gods of automotive interiors spoken on this subject already?

Aren't the more basic models NOT semi-autonomous? Isn't autonomous driving as a whole wholly not together? You'd have minimum of a year or more of having to drive the car and live with this nonsense.

I thought they would at least offer collision avoidance braking and lane-keeping tech.  It won't fully drive itself, but it'll slam on the brakes so you don't hit something and tug at the wheel if you start drifting out of your lane.

They're stupid too. In real life, people want old school controls.

I'd like to see a system that assesses your driving competence. If you fail, it would autonomously bind and gag you, autonomously drive you to the nearest DMV and autonomously surrender your license on your behalf.

This would remove about 20% of drivers from the road and render, to them at least, the debate over dash design moot.

So no one is talking about this piece of shit anymore? Ok.

... Nissan needs to use these shocks on the GT-R.  It would be like the Incredible Hulk wielding Thor's hammer.... unstoppable.

I think the adoption rate for electric cars is going to be very high and very quick, analogous to how quickly people tossed their tube TVs in favor of HD flat screen TVs.

It'll start at the top, with wealthy early adopters doing photovoltaic roofs, storage battery banks and electric cars, and then become more affordable and widespread.

The Model 3 is going to be a huge deal.

China and Western Europe are forcing EV adoption through either tax incentives or govt mandated regulations.

Is the UI customizable?

Because that grey on lighter grey motif just looks, well not very visible.

Not just that, but only 2 speeds?  Is this 1960?  Also, love how the guy asks if the wipers were auto-sensing.

What a POS.  How can you be so high tech, yet so retarded in simple controls/features.

Not only does it sound bad, but it also sounds very unsafe.

Im starting to wonder, does Tesla have ANY Industrial Designers, UX Designers or engineers, any sort of focus groups or test subjects, AT ALL?

This shit would have been caught pretty quickly in any sort of Design 101 class. Not only is this interface stupid, but it seems borderline dangerous. This is like the FCA e-shifter bad, but 3000% worse.

Sad part is, the tech bros in San Francisco will eat it up.  "Who cares if the UI sucks...the car's driving itself kinda anyways!"

Indeed, the fanbois will excuse these design failings with the refrain "the car is meant to be driven autonomously".

The '75 Eldo had four speeds, plus intermittent. The only two speed wipers I can think of were on the old R-Model Mack ('82 but the design dates to the late '50s).
