S2000 passenger side window stopped working

It's stuck down, so I can't go anywhere I don't feel comfortable leaving the car unlocked. Driver's side works fine.

Things to look into:
-The actual switch - I guess I could test by trying the switch on the passenger side.
-Fuse - not sure if each window would have its own fuse or not.
-Window motor

Any other ideas?

Soup DeVille

You tried using both switches?  It's unlikely it's a switch if neither one works. There is a fuse for each door if I remember right.

Does it not move at all? Does it make a sound?

Turn on the key, go to the door, hold the switch in the up position and beat on the door with the back of your fist.

Just pop off the door panel.  It's really simple.  Hit the switch, see if you get any movement from the window motor

I haven't tested anything yet. I typed this up while I was waiting for my lunch while it was on my mind.

In Miatas it's usually the window cable getting caught, the plastic gears disintegrating, or needing to lube the tracks and gears.

Lol I am el stupido. I accidentally flipped the window lock switch, which for some reason only affects the passenger window, regardless of which switch you use.

giant_mtb

Well that's good.

When I was test driving my truck, I thought the passenger window was broken or something...same issue.  Felt pretty dumb.

Lol. Yep. I don't think the Japanese understand that switch. All my Hondas did the same thing. The Land Cruiser almost does, but it also locks out the one-touch function on the driver's door.

FWIW, the window motor on the Z died the day I got it. Legitimately died. No garage either. Was a very quick fix though... besides a clutch bleed only repair I had to do on that car.

To make myself feel a little better, I tested the same thing in the Explorer the other day. Even with the window lock on, I can operate all of the windows using the driver's door buttons.

Yeah.

Domestic cars get that right, but the Japanese are confused by it. (I've never actually checked all of either, or anything else, but it holds true for Ford, GM, Honda and Toyota.)

I'm confused why a 2 seat convertible needs a window lock in the first place.

Congratulations!

I brought it up as a legitimate question since my cars don't have window locks.

And my answer was serious. Maybe Japanese kids are better behaved, so it's less common.

But his car is Japanese too.

My cars have the switches on the center consoles, so if your passenger is an asshole they can fuck with your window too.

Well that's probably why they don't have a lock. If the passenger can reach regardless, it'd be pretty pointless.

Current Mustang doesn't have a window lock.  Last one didn't either.  Mazda and VW both have/had them.  240SX had manual crank windows...

I always hold the switch and slam the door a couple times to knock back to operating condition.
