Looks damn good.  Glad to see that they've gone back to the old logo.

The grille looks far better than on recent Buicks.

Nice! Very handsome and a good alternative for folks that aren't in love with the gargling of the CVT+boxer 4. Ground clearance looks average, though, and what's with those tiny windows in the back? I doubt kids could see out of the car.

It has a "if Kia made an Optima Wagon" vibe, especially from this angle. That's a compliment. I really like this.

If it's as serene as the LaCrosse, it could be a fantastic road tripper.

Oh wow, that shit is HEAVY, though. 4300 pounds?

Outback is 3,580 to 3,856 lbs.

Wow is right.  The tranny is going to be cascading through those 8 speeds trying to get the right one for the moment with that little Turbo 4 struggling to keep itself composed.  Don't think that the 29 mpg is going to be too realistic in this case.

Where did you get this figure?  This new Regal/Insignia is supposed to be 300-500lbs lighter than the last one.

Interesting.  We'll see if that ends up being the case.  Would be kinda crappy if it does.

I was waiting for that shoe to drop. The last Regal GS sedan was 4000lbs. I think the Cascada was 4000lbs. No way was this gonna be anything less than 2 tons.

For reference wifey's MKX is 4400lbs. This thing's gonna be a dog

Even still, who cares?

When it's saddled to a 2.0L four cylinder, I'd say it matters, especially when it's 700 lb heavier than the Outback.

No it's not. The Outback is slightly bigger in the passenger compartment (hip room, shoulder room, etc) and has roughly the same amount of space in the cargo area.

I think the weight numbers are wrong. According to C&D, this car is 200 lb lighter than the previous model.

From the article OP...

A quoted curb weight of 4239 pounds means that the TourX won't be as spirited a performer as the Regal Sportback, which is several hundred pounds lighter. As you might expect, the wagon's big draw will be its generous cargo space. There is 33 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, and those seats fold to create a 74-cubic-foot hold, slightly more than you'll find in the Outback and as spacious as many small SUVs.

Two tons for an Insignia? That doesn't make sense

I think that weight is an error.  No way it weighs that much.  That's more than an AWD 300C weighs, which is a full-size car with a heavy, iron-block V8 under hood.  I'm guessing closer to 3600 lbs for the Insignia/TourX.

From the link...

Like its predecessor, the new Regal is spun from the Opel Insignia, which means it also shares a basic platform with the latest Chevrolet Malibu. The wagon measures 196.3 inches long, making it nearly seven inches longer than the Subaru Outback and 16 inches longer than the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack. Of course, Buick wants you to compare the Regal TourX with more premium wagons like the Audi A4 Allroad and the Volvo V60 Cross Country, both of which also are significantly smaller than the Regal.

As you might expect, the wagon's big draw will be its generous cargo space. There is 33 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, and those seats fold to create a 74-cubic-foot hold, slightly more than you'll find in the Outback and as spacious as many small SUVs.

A 7" increase in length still isn't big enough to warrant a 700 lb increase.

Plus, in all measurements that actually matter (aka interior room), the Subaru beats or matches this thing. The Subaru has 35.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 73.3 cubic feet behind the front. "Slightly more" is .2 cubic feet in one area, which is misleading and doesn't make this car any bigger than the Outback.

But more wagons :( Even if they weigh more than crossovers on the same platform.

Yeah, it's a good thing overall, I'm just curious where the hell all that weight came from. I'm not declaring it a POS. In fact, based on my experience with the Lacrosse, I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt. That was a very sweet cruiser.

I imagine the ride quality and NVH are better than the Outback. That car is loudddd at 70mph.

According to Buick, curb weight is just over 3400 lbs.
http://media.buick.com/media/us/en/buick/vehicles/regal-tourx/2018.tab1.html

I think people are misreporting GVWR as curb weight, as several press outlets are claiming 4300+ lbs.  Or the press release was in error.
