Rides on the MQB chassis, comes with the 1.4T and 6MT/8AT.

Why does it look so awkward?

Xer0

It reminds me of a cheap car trying to look expensive.  Something about it is off.

No word on a GLI yet?

Nothing yet.

I think it's the ride height that's off putting

Soup DeVille

The grill looks like it was forced to fit into that shape. It wants to be rounder and sleeker, but something in the way has it looking like it's on the front of a truck.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

Stance is wrong.  Rather than looking like it's going fast standing still, it looks like someone slammed on the brakes.

Those hood creases remind me of a Chrysler I can't think of at the moment.

Yeah, awkward and weird hood lines were the first two things that came to mind when I saw those pictures. Not a good looking car IMHO.

Not a fan of the styling.  Maybe Camry buyers who find the new model too sporty for them will like this.

MX793

It has the proportions of a Ford Taurus.  Very tall with too-small wheels.

This is what happens when you build sedans on platforms designed to underpin CUVs and tall wagons.

The Golf, Polo, Lamando, and other cars also are on MQB and they manage to look pretty good.

MQB, but they slapped a torsion beam rear suspension on it. I like the interior though... has an Audi R8 vibe to it.

To be fair, the basic variants of MQB (all B-seg cars) have torsion beams. Also, the TDI Golf has a torsion beam (AdBlue tank is in the way)

I don't think the torsion beam is a big deal, tbh.

Those acres of unpainted plastic  just look horrid.

In general I would agree with that, however this is something that the MQB plattform actually does well.

Further proof that the US is becoming a third world country. Looks like a 2006 Ford Focus.

I think this is Volkswagen's revenge for the US forcing them to seriously make crossovers.

I don't know guys

The Skoda Octavia is the same length as the old Jetta

Is mechanically simpler than the Golf (prolly of the same sophistication of this US Jetta)

Also uses MQB

and manages to not look like ass

93JC

This thing looks like a Chinese knockoff of a Hyundai and a Chevy Cruze. Mostly inoffensive, but there's something about it that I just can't quite put my finger on that says "cheap".
