Looks pretty neat. Not into SUVs, but this looks pretty fun.  :mrcool:

Mercedes-AMG GLB35 Packs Seven Seats And 302 HP

Hot on the heels of the unveiling of the GLE 53 Coupe, Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off the all-new GLB 35.

Set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, the GLB 35 is a high-performance seven-seater that features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque.

The engine is connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission which sends power to an AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. This setup enables the crossover to rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.2 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

The performance tweaks don't stop there as the crossover has been outfitted with an AMG-tuned suspension that produces less body roll and allows for higher cornering speeds.  The changes sound rather extensive as Mercedes said the GLB 35 has new "steering knuckles and transverse control arms at the front axle, as well as the model-specific subframe and the wheel carriers at the rear axle."

Elsewhere, engineers installed a speed-sensitive power steering system with a variable ratio that promises the "best possible control" at high speeds.  The model has also been equipped with a high-performance braking system that features silver calipers with black AMG lettering.  They grab on to 13.8-inch (350 mm) cast iron discs up front and 13-inch (330 mm) discs out back.

In typical fashion, the model has been given a sporty makeover as part of the AMG conversion.  For starters, the GLB has been outfitted with the AMG Line styling package and a new Panamericana grille.  The model also sports a metallic front splitter, a prominent diffuser and a dual exhaust system.  Other highlights include an extended rear spoiler and 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels.

An assortment of options will be available including an AMG Night package which features high-gloss black accents and black chrome trim.  Customers can also order an assortment of wheels ranging in sizes from 19- to 21-inches.

The cabin largely echoes the rest of the 35 lineup and drivers will find Artico / Dinamica microfiber sports seats with red contrast stitching.  There's also a digital instrument cluster, an MBUX infotainment system and a nappa leather sports steering wheel.

Among the options are a third row seat, an AMG Performance steering wheel and two leather packages. The latter allow the model to be equipped with two-tone leather seats in a variety of combinations such as black and red.

Mercedes wasn't ready to talk pricing, but the company confirmed the GLB 35 will arrive in the United States by late 2020.

302HP Mercedes AMG GLB 35 Is The Swiss Army Knife Of Compact SUVs

The new Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 celebrated its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show as the range-topping version of the German compact SUV, before the inevitable release of the even more powerful 45 model.

Those of you who liked the idea of an A35 but your lifestyle requires a lot more practicality, the GLB 35 offers everything you'd want in one attractive package.

This includes the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with the aforementioned A35, producing 302 HP (306 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to AMG's Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive system via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Straight-line performance is quite strong, with 0-62 mph (100km/h) coming in 5.2 seconds before hitting a limited 155 mph (250 km/h) top speed. There are five driving modes to choose from – Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. The chassis also features an AMG-tuned suspension, new steering knuckles, tranverse control arms and more to ensure it handles as dynamic as it looks.

The exterior of the new GLB 35 features an AMG-specific front grille, alongside a new front splitter, a new rear bumper that hosts twin round tailpipes, a roof spoiler and a set of 19-inch five-spoke wheels finished in grey as standard. Mercedes being Mercedes offers a bevy of optional wheels that range in size up to 21 inches.

The AMG-specific styling continue inside, where we can find body-hugging sport seats dressed in black partial leather with red stitching and AMG displays for the MBUX infotainment system. A more aggressive multifunction steering wheel with a flat bottom section is also present, dressed in nappa leather.

Mercedes will offer the third row of seats as an option, turning the compact GLB 35 into a seven-seater SUV, the only one in its class right now. Other options include the adaptive AMG Ride Control Suspension.

Oooh, you know what, after seeing the interior in this light... not so into it

Dashboard looks cheap and lazy compared to the more expensive models. The ~$100-200 or so to put a proper binnacle on it should have been spent.

What do you mean by proper binnacle?  Not sure what you'd prefer over what it has.

Ah, gotcha.  It's a small car, so there's a lot of desire to keep the dash as low as possible, which is one of the main reasons they do the tablet thing.  If you put a dash design that encompassed all the screen, you'd have like 8" of height to see out of

I get why they didn't do it.

Now that's a nice dash design.  Very clean.

This is weird considering the GLB is a crossover, but they have binnacles in coupes and sedans

In any case... looks bad

Does this thing replace the GLA or is it going to be sold alongside the GLA?  Either way, Mercedes is really milking that new FWD platform.  I wonder if we'll get an either smaller Benz in the states.

There will be a new GLA, it's in the making. The US is getting the A-Class Sedan and probably this GLB.

I wonder if an American A-Class buyer can buy the hatchback in Canada and then bring it over to the US. Same car, same spare parts etc. They just need to be careful with their taillights and rear bumper because those can only be repaired in Canada. :praise:

2021 Mercedes EQB EV Spotted: Like The GLB But With A New Face And No Emissions

The upcoming Mercedes EQB is set to become the second electric SUV from the German car maker, following the bigger EQC.

If the overall shape of the electric EQB looks familiar, it's because it shares the same body with the GLB SUV, which also explains why most of the body panels are the same. We say most but not all as the small electric SUV is set to get its own front and rear fascias to distinguish itself from its ICE-powered cousins.

The front end will get a set of redesigned headlamps, a blanked off grille and a unique bumper design, while the rear will also get new taillights that will be connected to each other via a thin LED strip and a new bumper that will also host the number plate.

Mercedes is expected to offer the choice between three electric motor choices, starting with the base 150 kW (201 hp / 204 PS), a mid-level 200 kW (268 hp / 272 PS) and a range-topping 250 kW (335 hp / 340 PS). Base models will most likely offer front-wheel drive while the other two variants will combine a pair of electric motors to provide all-wheel drive.

The same applies for the lithium-ion battery pack options, which will start at 60kWh and reach all the way up to 110kWh of capacity. The electric powetrain range will be mirrored in the also upcoming EQA compact hatchback.

Thanks to the model's high roofline, mounting the batteries within the floor isn't expected to rob much space in the cabin but we still don't know if Mercedes will get to retain the GLB's seven-seat option. The modern dashboard is also expected to remain largely unchanged, featuring new graphics and EV-related information from its infotainment system.

The new Mercedes EQB is expected to reach the market in 2021, following the debut of the smaller EQA electric compact.

Probably not worth the hassle with the costs involved. And they could repair it here; it would just be a PITA to get parts.
