Title: Finally saw the G37....
Post by: sportyaccordy on November 05, 2007, 08:04:24 PM
To say the least, I was underwhelmed :(

On the bright side, the nearly identical G35 is taking an absolute beating on the used car market. With a Kenstyle bodykit and some aftermarket wheels, a nice set of springs/dampers and some mild motor mods, who needs a G37 anyway?

I saw one in a parking garage in Philly recently.

It didn't help that the owner decided he needed two spaces to park (because an Infiniti is just that special), but overall I was not impressed either.

:huh:

So he wanted to keep his new 35 thousand dollar car ding free for a few months, i don't blame him.

I personally don't park in large areas, and if i have to i park i nthe back at an angle(that sometimes takes up 2 spaces).

Are my cars good enough to allow me to do that?

Go fuck yourself.

No one should be doing it unless they pay for it. There are folks in the garage that pay for reserved spots, and they can park however they want.

But this guy paid the exact same amount as the guy in a beat up old civic. He doesn't deserve special parking priviliges just because he thinks his shit is more important then everyone elses shit.

Its an asshole thing to do, end of story.

The reason I think it was worth mentioning is because a G37 isn't that special of a car. I see see plenty of M3s, 911, Z4s, A6, E-class, etc... parked with everyone else. But a G37...ZOMG!!! Its too special top park with us normal folk.

The fact that you would do it youself just proves you are an asshole too.  :ohyeah:

I am an asshole, sadly though the local VW dealer still refused to sell me a car because i wasn't a big enough asshole.

anyway i was unaware we were talking about PAID parking(i don't live or drive in the city). So i can see your(weak and pissy little) point.

I was talking about free parking in open lots, such as supermarkets and shopping centers.

AGREE! :clap:

There's this dumb tramp in a late-model Tahoe with 24" rims that sometimes shows up at my apartment complex to park right smack in the middle of 2 parking spots. Looks like someone's looking to have the air let out of her tires :rage:

In a free parking lot, fine, as long as there is plenty of room and you park at the back.

But, at work, we have a tight parking lot and all the time idiots in big trucks take up two spots toward the front door. Of course I think this has more to do with not being able to drive and/or just not caring than it does with deliberately leaving space on each side to avoid dings.

How would you get door dings from parking on the street like that????

Obviously you couldn't.  But you just as easily get your bumpers scraped!

I was thinking the same thing. Obviously someone in one of the other cars decided to be an ass and park too close.

I don't see why scratching up someone else's car (or putting it in a position to be scratched up) is such a worthwhile goal.

Looks like he managed to get in, from another angle I took (the wheels being in that position, looks like he did a nice bit of parallel parking!)

Thanks SJ, i need someone to be truthful with me.

I've known that i suck for awhile but nobody will be upfront with me about it.

So tell me, truthfully, how bad do i suck.

So we are both on the same page lets use the VWAG scale of suckyness.

we can always use this scale:

Well i just crunched some numbers with a friend of mine(stephen hawking, maybe you heard of him) to try and understand how i could suck more than the 8V motor(long thought by many to be unmoresuckable).

The results..are mindblowing.

Apperently if i were to suck more than an 8V it would case a paradox that would cause a space time riff(lights, bangs, bla bla) and the laws governing the VW suckiness scale would cease to exist. Planets would shift, the sun would fade and the end result would be that i would suck sooo bad that it would cause a atomic reversal.

The end result is the following.

VWAG < FBC.

The formula is as follows(its mostly mine, but i let stevie throw a few lines in there).

R = VW Sucktitude (mean sucktitude= 6,371SPSM)
Δlat = lat2− lat1
Δlong = long2− long1
a = sin?(Δlat/2) + cos(lat1).cos(lat2).sin?(Δlong/2)
c = 2.atan2(√a, √(1−a))
d = R.c

You used a cosine instead of a tangent btw.  Simple typo, I know.

In reality, the scale is correct and there is nothing suckier than that 8v VW engine.  Just like there is nothing cooler than the other side of the pillow.

It's a nice car.

the 2.0T is t3h pwnz0r.

FBC is funny, so I rank him this way.
2.0T>FBC>3.2 V6>2.8 VR6>2.0 16V>2.slow

I like his cars a lot too, so that's an added bonus.

You want more commentary about how this thread is pathetic and worthless? So some guy saw the car...who honestly cares? Do you see me bragging about how I drove this car 2 freaking weeks ago. I did, so what? This stuff isn't even an issue. Here, I'll be an ass. These past two weeks I also drove a 997 turbo, S55 AMG, SL600, and the coolest was the Maserati Spyder(lift shift lever up and forward for first gear and lift shifter down for reverse.) I guess it's cool to some, but it's a typical second part-time job for me.

I'm sorry, but I don't get why some of you go crazy over cars. I've driven EVERYTHING! Should I start posting pictures and saying how awesome everything is? Thought I was in a G35 until I noticed the interior was a little screwy. Then I checked the exterior and thought the car was little cooler. No big deal, but just a little different. It was a coupe and seemed a bit nicer(interior wise), but I don't create threads about these things otherwise I'd be making a new thread everyday. I'll let you know what I drive tomorrow...seriously just wait until tomorrow night. You'll think I'm lying.

Well the first time I saw a G37, I thought it was gorgeous.

But not nearly as impressive as the first time I saw a G35 coupe.

Usually when a redesign is evolutionary, the prior generation seems to age better than the succeeding one, especially if the prior gen was especially bold during the time of it's debut (not trying to hint at anything, I promise ;) )

Other examples of this are 1st gen vs. 2nd gen Altima, and the 1992-97 vs. 1998-2004 Seville.

What were you expecting, you post has no rebuttle, its just pure stupidity.

You're on a car forum, making fun of a posters thread because he was commenting on a car that he saw. It was pointless to you because you not only saw the car but drove it and felt no need to comment on it(thats fine). Then go on to mention "I've driven EVERYTHING", and that you don't understand why people on this car forum are crazy about cars(dumb^≈).

We might as well shut this site down if there is no reason to be excited about cars, and we certainly shouldn't bother talking about them.

But before the site gets shut down you should post a few of your own reviews just for us idiots who are into cars.

I'd personally like to see your reviews on hypercars, and look forward to a koenigsegg writeup(that is if it wouldn't be to boring for you to talk about).

Reminds me of how my dad's bosses occasionally let him drive their cars, which include an S550, a 996 convertible, a CL500, a 745Li, and other "lesser" luxury cars...he appreciates that they're very nice cars, but he's put off by things like the stiff ride of the Carerra, the complexity of the S-class, and the fact that the 745 is needing to visit the dealer for repairs a LOT.

Wait a minute, Middle path isn't a valet is he?

Thats not DRIVING a car, sure you get to drive it but unless you get time with a car to take it out on a road or track and run it through the gears then its just sitting in and moving a car.

If he's a valet and thinks parking a car is like seriously driving a car then thats pretty sad.

It would be like me shaking hands with a supermodel at a photo event and then later saying i slept with her.

Why the hell are you here then?

Did you miss the rather obvious fact that this is a CAR ENTHUSIAST forum. Oh, big surprise... we all love cars!  :rolleyes:

Don't rope me into this. I'll do it myself.  :lol:

This guy is really annoying, he showed up out of nowhere and is posting nonsense. I won't beat the dead horse but basically, if you don't love cars....you can leave.

Valet would be my guess as well.  And you're absolutely right.

Correcto mundo! It's my weekend/second job that pays for my racing habit and a couple of bills(average pay on the job is about $17/hr. recalulated to new primo location: $19.91/hr.) Damn, how terrible of me that I don't worship mundane cars like a G35 or G37 because I'm completely familiarized with cars. The only cars I love are small, lightweight, and cars modified for the track.  If ya'll think I'm just jaded an intentional deviant then get bent. Nevermind, it's all lies. I've never even driven a car let alone raced one. I've never heard of rev-matching or brake fade. I've never seen a car flipover, a guy get t-boned at 100mph, car fires, and engines blowing up on the track.

Are the majority of you under the age of 25 or something? Nevermind, you've reminded me why I stick to the general sections of car forums now. We will all be happier. Good job on Champ and Rag for posting that pic. I honestly didn't see that storm coming. Thought you were full of it, but damn it came true, LOL. I think you've entirely missed the point.  We are here because we like to discuss cars.  You called this "pathetic and worthless".  You said that nobody cares about sportyaccordy seeing a G37 (and offering his opinion, this is a discussion forum after all).  Well, I'm willing to bet that even fewer people care about your posts telling us what you do for a living, how much you earn doing it and what you think about cars.
I think you only posted because you wanted attention.  In that respect I hope you have drawn some satisfaction from doing so, because from what you have told us it seems that satisfaction is something that is devoid from your life in general.

Actually from what I can tell, the traffic, on this website in the car *specific* forums is inredibly slow.  Almost all traffic seems to go to the ARBT, Chat, and General forum which is that of comraderie.  Yeah, I must be an attention whore because I'm creating posts on the intrawebs! Being hypocritical has to feel damn pleasing.

You didn't mention your age and that doesn't strike me as odd.

If I got to drive an SL55 AMG, a Maserati, AND an SL600 extensively over a period of a few days, I'd shit myself with excitement. It's called loving cars... and it's what brings us all together here despite our differences.

Anyone else find it ironic that TheIntrepid referred to someone else as a "little kid?"

Why? I said nothing embarrassing. I guess having two jobs and racing cars is pathetic.

Hey TBR, lol, it's $9/hr salary for location supervisors and $7/hr for regular employees. Add in the tip money and that ranges on a daily basis from $50-$150 a day for 5 hours of work. You do the math.

I guess I should be personally offended by anonymous strangers and go crying in shame. Let me go find a dark corner. HAHAHAHAHA, you guys are a sad lot. Keep it coming because this shit is funny.

I think you're taking this way too seriously.

And it seems that since you're not here to talk about cars, from what I've seen here you're here to antagonize random posters on the internet, as well as bolster your own ego. To brag about valet parking expensive cars as though driving a car all of 50 feet makes you an expert suggests an offline existence that has long gone without validation... not to mention a lack of understanding of what it means to actually drive a car (which would make sense, as you are not a car enthusaist).

So I congratulate you. You have completely destroyed the original direction of the thread, and focused all the attention on you (as you seem to not be getting it from anywhere else). Is this what you wanted? Seriously you're coming off argumentative as hell for no reason, like shit is not going well and you have to take it out on somebody. It's very lame.

Again, since you probably didn't even read my original post, I'll just reiterate my point...

The G37 looks too much like the G35 to warrant what now ranges from an 8 to 25 thousand dollar premium. Is that a topic worthy of discussion, our glorious Middle_Path?

That's because he said $9/hour,  assuming you will get $10.91/hour in tips is a little ridiculous. Now assuming $10/hour or $15/hour is one thing, but estimates should never go to two decimal places.

IF he's parking Maybachs and Reventons as he is suggesting, 2 $5 tips an hour is not at all unreasonable. In fact, I think he might be underreporting, in an effort to thwart the IRS' surveillance methods...

You just take total tips divided by hours worked (then add that to your base hourly wage), it hardly ever comes out to an even #.  Not sure what your hangup is.

I don't doubt that $10/hour in tips is entirely possible, but if I see xx.xx/hour I am going to assume that is the wage only (I honestly didn't even thinking about tips, and if someone is making $9/hour for menial labor than they shouldn't be getting them, no offense intended Champ), seeing as how averaging out your tips/hour serves no purpose, and doing it to two decimal places makes no sense.

Why doesn't that make any sense?  I like to know how much I make per hour to know if it's worth my time.  Or to know what accounts are better than others. (depending on the valet company you work for, you can be at a different restaurant each shift)

The decimal places are just personal preference.  I assume he just used a calculator and that's what it gave him.  Sure he could say $10.82 per hour is basically $11, but does it really matter?

If you think getting $9 an hour + tips is too good, why not go take advantage of it and work there yourself?  The job isn't always worth $9/hour, if it's shitty weather out the job sucks pretty hard.  My hardest shift was 9.5 hours long, starting temp according to my car was -4F, when I left at 2:30am it was -12F.  Not including wind chill (which was closing in on -30).  We are required to stand outside the entire time.

We don't have anything around here with valets, plus I am not eighteen, plus I would have to work at least 20 hours a week to end up ahead of my current job. I certainly will consider valeting when I go off to college.

I'm confused. All of these cars that Middle Path drives is just from parking them while he valets?
Yup. :lol:

He has. I've also owned a Volkswagen Touareg for the past year.

You'd really have to such cars to a racetrack to know how they really drive.

Thank you, which is what me doing as a Valet pays for. It pays to race my car. On top of that, sometimes I get to drive other peoples car at the track.

And, you are the only one to make a point that the only way to know a car is to race it. You can take a car around the block and park it. You can take a limited test drive. Either way they are the same thing. Or you can race it which is an entirely different animal.

Champ, I know the feeling, that weather thing is a bitch. Stuck outside all night long. You doing Hotel's, special events, or what? Also, you are racing too? What kind, cones or door-door?

Despite being one of the more mature members here, you manage to use high school level sarcasm and insults and turn it into something artful.

I guess that would in fact contribute to you being one of the mature members here.  :lol:

Hehehehe. There's a reason it's called "adult language" and not "teenage language." And why little kids aren't supposed to get into R rated movies without parents to "guide" them around all the adult language. ;) Adults use that sort of language to show extreme disdain for the person/people it's aimed at.  That's all I did. :lol:  He also apparently did not look under my name... <----

My company has like 1 hotel, 10 restaurant/bars, 2 day shifts at hospitals (these rock!) and private events (weddings, political things etc).  I usually do restaurants.

Done both, I prefer just open track since actual racing is $$$.  I do some auto-x simply because it's cheap and much closer to me.  I have done some rallies also in the Viggen, but that is lowered now so I may try them in my 1991 900 turbo. :ohyeah:

:ohyeah:

Was doing some research in some old threads.... man, SJ_GTI had some bite :lol: You went soft bro

So many years for so many of us here. It'd definitely be an interesting project to extract an order those posts. Reality check on how much each of us have changed.

They say people don't change, but they do. We are all a work in progress. Everybody has their instincts and go-to reactions, but the beauty of the internet is it can allow you to pause and evaluate yourself before you say what you wanna say.
