Someone Just Paid $10,000 For This Chevy Camaro-Based Ferrari Replica

A bizarre Chevrolet Camaro-based Ferrari replica recently traded hands for $10,000 after being listed online through eBay.

This Camaro is a 1985 model and has been equipped with a distinctive bodykit known as the K1 Evoluzione. The listing notes that the bodykit takes styling inspiration from Ferrari but isn't based on any one particular model from the Prancing Horse.



Found at the front of the car are distinctive headlights, a unique bumper, and a large grille with a small Prancing Horse emblem. There is also a Ferrari badge on the hood. Elsewhere, the Ferrari has been fitted with new door skins, seemingly inspired by the iconic Testarossa, although the signature strakes are notably absent. It also has Ferrari badges on the front quarter panels and five-spoke star-shaped wheels seemingly inspired by those of the F40.

The rear of the car sports a distinctive rear bumper, red taillights, and two central-exiting tailpipes.



A number of changes have also been made to the interior of the Camaro. For example, it features a redesigned dashboard, unique door panels, a cockpit that is more focused on the driver and a two-spoke steering wheel. Ferrari badges are also featured on this steering wheel, as well as the door panels.

Powering this replica is a 5.7-liter V8 coupled to a 700R4 automatic transmission with a hydraulic torque converter. The car has also been lowered by approximately 1.5 inches and while the odometer currently reads just 8,773 miles (~14,000 km), the seller says the car has actually been driven more than 100,000 miles (160,000 km).

Making stamped, molded or layup multi-surface parts within fairly tight dimensions is hard. Even established automakers can struggle with it. See a C3 or C4 Corvette, '80s Lamo or even a Tesla 3 or Y.

It's actually not that bad. The interior is an improvement; I'd rig up a tablet in that middle hole for a nav/stereo. Get rid of the dumb fake badges and this is actually cool for $10K.

Decent fender gap is based on having good suspension design in relation to the body.  If you want the stance right, you need wheel travel up into the fenders.  I don't know anything about 1985 Camaro suspension design, but I doubt it's just like Ferrari's
