Here we go...

A one-off DeSoto?
No.
Packard?
No.
Studebaker?
Alvis?
Nope...but nearer to the geographical area of manufacture...sort of.
Ah.
Renault?
You've got me stumped there.......... it's either a coachbuilt special, or a prototype, I suspect. It has some similarities to the Lagonda of the period, but it does not look quite like those cars.
I would guess late 1940s.
Peugeot?

Peugeot?
I think you're going to need some help. Where's Colin?

He's going to need help, too, I think........... Google has not yet turned up any clues.
I'm gonna guess dead Germans now.
DKW?

I didn't notice your first post. Late '40s is close. You might call it a coachbuilt special.
Austin?
Nooo...
Delahaye?
Wrong country.
So it's a Scottish, Welsh or Irish car?

No, think North.
Volvo?
A Scandinavian car? I only know of Volvo, Saab or Scania.
It's not German or British.
Dutch perhaps? Is it a DAF?
It is not DAF but country of origin is The Netherlands.
Ok, it's not a Donkervoort or Spyker. That's clear. And it's not a "Volvo of Holland" car either.
I know of only one Dutch brand that might have been around at that time.
BRONS?
Not a BRONS. As previously mentioned, a 'coachbuilt special' so it is not, necessarily, a brand. Keep looking.
Is the coach builder Dutch?
Time to use Google...

A Dutch coachbuilder was used for some versions.
Yikes...
Van Helsing?
A couple, or more, hints.
Very few cars of this name were built over a number of years. They were not all built by the same coachbuilder. They, mostly, used the same chassis/drive train but not all of them. This model/car was the last built.
I honestly have no idea. I don't know of any Dutch coach builder. Perhaps I know the coach builder who made this, but I can't connect it right now.
Another clue. The 'builder' was an inventor who was a passionate rally driver.
Um. Maurice Gatsonides? Only Dutch rally driver I know.

Follow that trail. You're very close.
So, it is a 1950 Gatso 4000 Luxe, based on a Mercury chassis, with V8 engine. The bodywork was made by Dutch coachbuilder Boonakker.
Congratulations to FoMoJo for coming up with something so difficult..... I had no idea what this was and only with the latest clues did I manage to find it.
Morally, I think this one belongs to Wimmer, though..... he got Gatsonides.
Aha. Just learned something new today! This game is fun!
