Everytime I read MBUX I think it sounds more like a currency for a video game than an infotainment system.

Yeah, it sounds like something from Roblox. "Robux"

I went under the car this morning - did not see any wires in the area.
It was the aluminum engine splash guard: it had come loose when I was on the highway, dropping to the road surface and abrading to the extent that a piece broke off. This is almost certainly the result of the technician, who did the 30k service in mid-May, not having replaced many of the fasteners that hold the guard in place. It worked loose over the weeks, and finally dropped.
I've wired it back in place as best I can. Coat hanger wire - like it's 1982 and I'm an East German fixing a Wartburg.
Stern note to dealer.
I have a new splash guard: dealer apologized and ate the cost. I checked, and all fasteners are in place: so this must have been the work of a senior mechanic.

My nephew on my wife's side recently graduated college and has a good job with Wayfair.  My Sonata I gave him 3 years ago he sold because it failed an emissions test and would cost too much to fix.  So he needs a car for a few months before he moves out of his Mom's house to Boston where he might not need a car.

We're on a group text with my wife's family.  The topic of his car comes up and I gather he wants to spend around 5 or 6 grand.  I text a link to two cars posted on autotrader.  One was a 12 year old Malibu, single owner, no accidents, less than 50,000 miles on the odometer, for 6 grand.  Another was a similar vintage Avalon single owner no accidents with 140,000 miles for $5500.

My nephew posts a few cars from Facebook (I didn't know people sold cars on Facebook).  He's posts a low mileage 12 year old Mercedes C class which is a salvage title.  He posts a beautiful looking 13 year old BMW 5 series on a second engine with 100,000 miles (unclear from the Facebook ad if the car has 100,000 miles or the second motor has 100,000 miles).

Kids...  I got off the text thread.  If he get a German Baller car it's gonna sit in his Mom's driveway after driving it for two weeks because the water pump or something like that broke and he doesn't have the dime to fix it.  He doesn't know how to work on cars.

Only one way for him to learn...

Yeah since he's my nephew on my wife's side I wasn't keen on calling him a dumb ass.  I got off the text string before I got any more into it. My other dumb ass brother in law tells him to lease a Tesla Model 3.  Tells him to charge it at his house (he lives 20 minutes away from him, and my nephew only needs the car for 6 or so months before he moves to a city apartment in Boston).

I could hardly believe it, but I took my Mazda in for a state inspection and I get a text message... Open the text and it has a link to a video of the mechanic showing the condition of the tires/brakes/ect

I'm amazed

The technology is there for our world to be absolutely amazing- people just need to figure out how to use it. That's pretty decent! :)

It's FCA's cure for Broncitis: a nasty shitting of trousers by recent buyers of Wrangler JLs.

Probably insomnia. Their lineup isn't exciting enough to increase your heart rate or get you aroused but most of their cars could put you to sleep.

New fuel economy record for my dad in his new B200.

4.5 L / 100 km (52 mpg)

He visited me in Munich yesterday, stayed overnight and then drove down to Mühldorf very early this morning. He caught a good moment with hardly any traffic and apparently the green traffic light wave. On the Autobahn he maintained a speed of 120 km/h (74.6 mph). He phoned me up straight away and excitedly brag about that fuel economy. That's the most fun part about owning this new B200: the great gas mileage.

I drove him again on the Autobahn last week, and I tend to cruise at higher speeds (140-150 km/h) and I noticed that at this speed the fuel economy tends to go down - on my A250 it's the opposite. At those cruising speeds the fuel economy improves. But I have 700cc extra engine capacity...  :tounge:

The name will only be applied at the corporate level.  Kind of like FCA was.  There's no FCA Challenger or FCA 300.

It's a dumb name though I agree.

That's impressive.  What is the gross weight of his car, and what transmission?

About 1.4 tons and it's got a 7-DCT transmission (double clutch automatic). My dad also drives according to traffic conditions so he always adjusts his driving style accordingly.

When I drove him to Regensburg in his B200, we used a mix of hilly country roads and about 40 km of Autobahn. I managed 5.4 L / 100 km (43.5 mpg) in the car. Impressive, considering we had the A/C on as well.

Would also qualify for participation in the PowerShift class-action suit.

No, but it's the MBUX system onboard the new S-Class, and the capabilities and new features are insane. ;)
