Title: Old school fake news

Was just talking about this with some people and a lot of them didn't not remember it. Just reminded me off how long the news has been had a big ok' caveat emptor hanging over it.

I remember 60 minutes screwing over Audi showing unintended acceleration of the Audi 5000 which was doctored.  I also remember Consumer Reports screwing over Suzuki by stating the Samurai easily tips over.

Dateline et al. have always been shitty to the max, and anyone paying attention knows that. On the other hand, at least they had the balls to admit their bullshit on the air (at least this extreme instance).

Because GM was suing them and threatening to pull all their advertising.

Dateline was the worst, and I remember this going down as well as the Suzuki fiasco veeman alluded to. But there was no balls involved... they HAD to apologize or face the wrath of a massive shitstorm lawsuit.

My Grand Father had 2 during the 80s. Both 2 wheel drive long beds. One was a 1980 green and white GMC. The other a '85 Black and silver Silverado. I wish He would've kept one but instead he sold them and brought a '95 F150. He always regretted switching to Ford....

They were infamous for manipulating interviews to make people seem worse than they were for the sake of a more engaging story. All those "news" shows were pretty bad, reality TV before reality TV.

"Ford is synonymous with Big Fucking Piece of Shit. Take the 'F' and put it at the beginning. Take the 'B' and turn it into an 'O', take the 'P' and turn it into an 'R', and take the 'S' and turn it into an 'D'. Is that a coincidence? I think not."

"You wanna haul a heavy load? Getchya goddamn Chevy Silveraydo. You wanna swallow a heavy load? Getchya Ford."

You've got a Corvette: you know Vortec engines are made with real tornadoes.
