White 5-door 120d.

Good choice. The owner let me drive his car and wow, it pulls hard! Gotta love diesel torque.

3-door 120d. I like Euro diesels and 5 doors is too many for that little thing.

The biggest problem on the 5-Door 1er's is the huge ass transmission tunnel in the back that takes up so much leg space.

I thought the R32's were DSG only?

Seriously.

This thread should be about selecting your overpowered European POS.

In the US they were sold as DSG only (otherwise I'd have one).  They came with a stick in Europe.

Seriously, this one guy in my apartment building has a red one (maybe he moved, I haven't seen it in a while), but it was in bad shape.  You could tell he didn't take care of it.  Dents in the side behind the door, the front bumper got fucked up, and the grille got fucked up too, like he hit someone or something.  Shame to see such a limited numbers car treated like that, even if I wouldn't own one because of the transmission.

I've always wondered what those engines are like when they've lost compression and power due to age. 60HP already sucks....it's likely in the high 40's low 50's at the wheels. I wouldn't be surprised if there is 30-40HP or less in these cars a not too much longer.

Sounds like the asshole who lives across the street from me. That Audi S6 hasn't moved in over three months.

They probably felt perfectly adequate for the average European.  The off the lot cars were probably too powerful and when they degraded after a couple of years became perfect.

I think he's a bit of a wigger...hmm, is that PC?  He's Wafrican Wamerican.  Thugged out skinny white guy.  The worst kind of VW owner, he's one step from stretch and poke, no doubt.  Don't know how he can afford the car or this apartment building.  Although there are some people's cars you see and you're like "how can they afford to live here?  One month's rent is more than their car is worth."  And if you're me, you look down on them and that helps get you through the day.

I kinda feel like this thread misses the spirit of the sub-forum.  None of these cars are Jalopies in any sense of the word.

I know these cars are no Jalopies, but I had just finished editing this photo and decided to make a thread out of it.

By the way, the only cars here with a manual transmission are the white 120d 5-Door, Focus ST and the 120i Coupe. The rest have a DSG, A/T transmission.  :ohyeah:
