This car would be terrible to be chauffeured in. Looks like not much hearing besides difficulty in entering.

This has been one of the more unsatisfying iterations of F1 rules/designs imo.  None of the teams, including Red Bull, have resolved the issue of porpoising which, other than destabilizing the car on a less than perfect surface, punishes the drivers to the point of injury.  Hopefully, the new specifications for '26 will be more sensible.

Yea, has some decent rover vibes from most angles other than the front bumper.

Quote from: AutobahnSHO on May 26, 2024, 04:29:35 PMOk I don't follow F1 much but I'm watching highlights from the F1 race,

This moment and the following action, the sparks under the cars are the cars making contact with the asphalt?!?!?!!!

Like at 6min exactly, too

There are skid blocks under the cars.  The latest generation of cars have huge down force creating under car diffusers that basically work the best the closer they are to the ground - so these cars are extremely low and have "springs" that basically don't spring all to keep the ride height as low as possible.

Very fun!

The brake thing plagues many hybrid cars- the transition from regen to friction braking got better in Mav with a recall but the first brake of the morning or when it's wet out is lurchy.

Gotta have a huge parking space- doors will smack anything parked next to it. Climbing into the backseat looks ugly.

Quote from: Raza  on May 27, 2024, 10:21:32 AMNice! Is this replacing your 2011 Grand Cherokee?

Yup, old faithful finally had to go.  Truth is we really wanted to replace it 3 or 4 years ago and I pretty much stopped maintaining it... But then car prices went crazy and the thing wouldn't break, so it just hung on.

On the outside and inside it was still in great shape.  The nail in the coffin was the power steering rack started leaking and a vibration in the front end at speed (that might have just been a wheel weight though).  Maintenance wise it was way overdue for transmission fluid change, diff+transfer case fluids, spark plugs, air filter, coolant flush, brake fluid flush... Honestly maintenance wise I was really not nice to the thing.
