Midnight British time (GMT), so 7 pm Thursday evening for the east coast.
Yeah, we might have it Thursday night.

I am only disappoint there was no Versa S benchmark time on the ebola track.
I'd give it a B+. I was quite tingly at first, but there was a little too much time on the 3 X £1M hypercars, and the three dead celebs thing did not quite work, one was funny: two & three was laboring it. But I'll watch it next week.
Haven't watched it yet, just saw it show up on my "recommended" list on my FireTV last night after I was getting ready to hit the sack (after watching some college basketball). I queued it up to watch either tonight or this weekend some time. I noticed its available in "UHD" so I am planning to watch it on my 4k TV.

Agreed on these points. The dead celebs was dumb. I wanted to see more about the three Mustangs from the intro.
I'll give it a C/C-.
Like most recent Top Gear episodes I can only make it ~20 minutes in before I get bored. Took me two additional sessions to finish this episode. The intro with the Mustangs and music was very well down however.
Most all the gags didn't really work for me - the 3 dead celebs, the mind tester thing, the redneck NASCAR driver, the "who has the better air force" fight. Plus, the centerpiece of the episode - 918 vs. P1 vs. LaFerrari - has been done to death. It also sounded like they might have been using a laugh track - audiences don't sound like that in a tent.
Let's call it a promising start. I think they wanted to do some skits and shed some of the expectation of the old show (hence the dumb celebrity skit), but they're still them and the show, I'm sure, will get better from this first episode.

Even if its a C or C- its still in a different world then the steaming pile of poopy that Top Gear became
I could be wrong but I took the 3-dead-celebs-mindtester gag to be a dig at themselves (along with those cut cues) and expect them to bring back the celebrity guest driver bit in some form or another in the future.
I thought the Skinner material was fine, hard to follow the Stig--even if they don't tone down the corny jokes I imagine he'll grow on people.
I give it a B+, now that they have that nervous energy out of the way they can relax and get back to the cars and goofing off.
My biggest impression is that they would be well served to hold themselves to an hour. The skits would have been a lot funnier if they had been a bit shorter and the hyper car piece was also a bit long. I have yet to watch TG 3.0 but this certainly wasn't as good as peak TG 2.0
Meh. I give it a C. It was really drawn out and not all that entertaining honestly. Not a lot of interesting insight into the cars themselves either. I think the Top Gear specials were always the best (Bolivia, Vietnam, etc). Chris Harris does better actual car reviews.
Great camera work and editing as always though. Even better than Top Gear IMO.

I would say that everyone on the show probably agrees with you which is why they named it "The Grand Tour" and don't have a permanent studio.
I did watch it (in 4k) this weekend. It was OK. Very high production values obviously but I don't really get in to comparisons of super/hyper/ultra cars. Just no basis for comparison to what I drive. I liked seeing the M2 track test (was surprised it was slower than the other BMW M cars). I'll keep watching for now.

They (all the big providers) know this is an option and have been working hard to squash it. What I find to be retarded about it is that they supposedly block from out of the country because of copyright blah blah.
But in many of those countries, illegal downloading runs rampant. Why not take the money instead of force users to go find an illegal download??

Yeah, it's a really silly game of cat and mouse. The BBC is the craziest one. They want taxes to fund a TV network. Doesn't work when any of them take off and the internet exists.
It was pretty meh.
Not much car talk, even while driving. Was disappointed that all the "Stig" had to say were those awful Murrica jokes...tell me about the fucking car, man!
Laughs were fake as fuck...note how they often never showed crowd faces while being zoomed in on the host telling the "joke" that probably got no laughs because most of the jokes weren't funny. People don't rapid-fire laugh like that.
The skits were way too long and pretty dumb, IMO.

Oh, and get rid of Mike fucking Skinner.
Having the car show/review format holding them back in the OG TG was probably good for creativity. When you have no limits it's easy to go too far and end up with something dumb.

For real. There was too much Murrica This and Murrica That and nothing of any real substance or intelligence...they hardly talked numbers or technology for anything. Like bruh, this is a car show. We don't give a fuck about your stupid jokes.
Saw Episode 2. Still not working for me. They went to South Africa. Set up the tent. Did a few jokes about South Africa between running vids of escapades elsewhere. So there was really nothing South African in it. They could just as well have set up the tent in some generic office parking lot in some generic city somewhere, anywhere.
I'll be generous and downgrade my vote only to C-
I liked it a lot. The tent scenes were much better-paced and Jeremy's piece on the Vulcan was right in his wheelhouse.
Loved the feature--sort of Edge of Tomorrow meets Groundhog's Day meets Westworld.
Top Gear meets Benny Hill meets Duck Dynasty.

Episode 2 was crap though. I actually liked the first episode. Not as good as TG in its prime, but still worthwhile. But the entire rescue operation segment in EP2 was stupid.

Yeah, I'm sure he'd be able to talk about the cars the same way Pobst does for Motortrend.
I'm hoping they'll eventually do that. A couple jokes here and there but tell us how they drive. I'd love to see him driver his truck that he brings to Goodwood every year as well.

Well, I happened to like the bone and meat car.
The last 3 episodes have now all been really solid. Newest one is cheap(ish) sports cars in Morocco--Hammond with the ND Miata, May with a Zenos, and Jeremy playing the odd man out with a Alfa 4C.
Just checked the production credits on Wikipedia. For the Dec 30th show (episode after next), it says in the section reserved for locations:
No tent -
Namibia
"Special"
There's maybe 20 minutes of good stuff mixed with 42 other minutes of nonsense. Meh.
I've been enjoying the last few episodes... People really needed to lighten the hell up
I just want more cars and less studio gimmicks. I mean, they're still doing the celebrity shit 6 episodes in. I got tired of that after episode 2...
The GT should have been Top Gear, period. They could have called it "Low Cog" and claimed it to be a parody of the old show or something, but everything about the new series leaves me wanting for more.
I've checked out from this show. It's pretty shitty. I gave it a chance.

+1. I think people remember Top Gear a bit too fondly. American Stig and killing celebs is dumb, but otherwise it's been at least as good as the last few years of TG.

They kill off the celebs because they booked them all, then the lawyers realized they aren't allowed to interview them due to contract obligations and trademarks from the BBC and Top Gear. I hate it slightly less after reading about that since it's not only crappy for us but them as well. And I agree with the sentiment that people remember Top Gear a bit too fondly. They act like they were never disappointed with a Top Gear episode ever, remembering all epsiodes as fondly as the specials from Vietnam and the like. This is their first season with a mostly new crew, and entirely different setting. I can't imagine how much work it is to move the entire set all around the world in addition to filming all the actual features, all while trying not to get sued by the BBC for infringing on ridiculous copyrights. We are only six (SIX!!!) episodes into an entirely new show and they'll work out the kinks. We have to remember that everything we're seeing was filmed before the first episode even aired so there was no feedback from the viewers available. I'm sure once some feedback is taken into consideration and they mellow down a bit (I think Clarkson was a bit too excited to be "on the internet") it'll all come together.
Motortrend's YouTube channel killed The Grand Tour for me. During the year+ wait for GT, I just watched Roadkill, Dirt Everyday, etc. which are all superior shows since they don't fake stuff or do silly crap. Just cool cars doing cool things.
I've seen 4 episodes now. Haven't seen the Namibia one yet. I've really liked them. Their chemistry is great. They beat to death a lot of things like Hammond irritating May by gunning the Hellcat but it's still really funny.
The Namibia special was pretty awesome.
The American is still unbearable.
