I would think that you could get 60 mpg out of an SV650.  I regularly get 50-52 mpg out of my 1250 (I think I've only once gotten under 50) and have gotten as high as 58.

I can get mid-60's out of mine if I try. :praise:

I think the worst I've ever done is 49 mpg, and I regularly do 50-52.

I like to redline a lot though so I'm not exactly driving for efficiency...

I'm sure if I stayed  gentle I could  get up to 60.

I also know one of my carbs is running rich, and needs to be probably rejetted.  I'm sure that doesn't help either.

Yes, well, mine's a good deal heavier and makes more power at the lower revs.  Both are a penalty when it comes to fuel consumption.

Thanks for the continued input folks.

I think the top three are, again in no order, Buell Blast, Kawasaki Ninja 250, and SV650.

I will ride them all after my class in Sept. and check back with results. ;)

Champ

I think you'll enjoy the SV or ninja the most and likely decide on the SV

Just my predictions.

Yeah I suppose, but I am thinking those two 500s I mentioned might just be a bit heavy and underpowered simultaneously.  I will ride them as well however just to make sure.

Actually, that's alphabetical order.

Yeah, I've heard they're really heavy, but they seem like great starter bikes.

Too bad new 250's are so expensive. :heated:

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

Thats the first modification (besides a pipe) most riders make! An fender eliminator will do wonders to any crotch rocket!

What do you do with your license plate after you cut the mount off?

They mount it as far under the seat as possible.

What is that white and green bike?

Tave

It's an LRG custom 'Busa. I was in Hastings on Thursday and saw it on the cover of a magazine.

Ah cool. Does it have better performance or just modified looks?

Tave

Dunno, didn't read the all the article. Some of the custom pieces are lightweight.

Way under the seat (thats how I did my '03 gixxer) or down next to the sprocket like I have mine now.

Taking the fender off really cleans the lines up alot! The plate is on a bracket mounted sideways next to the sproket and I got the blinkers intergrated into the taillight.

I only noticed it because of the collaboration with LRG, but those wheels are badass! How long do you think they would stay clear?
