All of those acceleration numbers are pretty nuts compared to 10-15 years ago. 3.x seconds was only the realm of supercars

Oh, jeez. Yet another decent EV that nobody will buy, esp. that it's from GM.

Quote from: MrH on May 31, 2024, 03:56:31 PMIt's pretty close.  3.9 0-60, 12.5 in the 1/4 mile.  You're deep in the modification game, running E30, just to keep up with my 7,000 lb truck

Nah, a stage 1 tune is only ~$900 and a 30 minute software download that gets me consistent 12.4s @ 110 mph (and that is with a weak launch due to A/S tires). Zero hardware changes. And no E for me - just lowly 91 octane tune (as will be the upcoming stage 3 upgrade).

Stage 3 is deeper but APR's stage 3 is not deep IMO compared to everybody else as this APR stage 3 is the only stage 3 tune that is 100% drop-in (works with all factory hookup HW - from intake to oil lines), works with the factory downpipe/cat, guarantees a smog test pass (only the tailpipe test, obviously not the ECU software test, which some states are threatening), preserves factory CEL operation and guarantees no CELs (other tuners simply disable the CEL since their tunes and HW don't work with the factory cat and smog sensing).

Look at dat powerband advantage, even vs. stage 1. 11.5s @ 118 mph is conservative but I'll be more than happy with it.

It's so (relatively) cheap and most all new cars are terrible and only getting worse, so here we are.

But at just a lowly stage 1 I'm already quicker than an F-150 Lightning even in its best use case (full charge, not hot).

This upgrade should net me 0-60 in 3.3s and 1/4 mile in 11.5s @ 118 mph.

It sounds like a 2LT AWD with 19 inch wheels is the sweet spot for range, acceleration, & price.

I'm tempted to trade in our Bolt for one, but I'd rather not buy the first model year. I'm hoping the Equinox doesn't have software issues like the Blazer. Seems like they've ironed those out for the most part.

Tested: 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Averages Out
Class-leading range and screen size balance out lazy acceleration and small cargo space.

  • 285-319 miles of range
  • 213-288 HP
  • 150 KW fast charging
  • Around 5,000 lbs
  • 2LT FWD starts at $43k

Quote from: GoCougs on May 30, 2024, 01:18:32 PMThis first wave of the EV push has essentially already failed, dragged down in particular by the failure of autonomous driving.

The California and Biden push for EV dominance of the U.S. car market has been a failure but EV as a viable mode of automotive transportation for a substantial minority of the U.S. population has caused a paradigm shift for U.S. car culture.

I don't think autonomous driving has much to do with it.
