Eye of the Tiger

That's like a normal day of riding a motorcycle in South Carolina. That's why I quit. My four wheeled vehicles get crashed into enough.

I've had 2 people try to change lanes in an intersection and almost hit me in the past week. Once in the El Camino and once in the Bolt. I speed off to avoid them.

Neighbor washed & winterized his fleet today. I thought he only had two bikes. Nope, six.
I have never seen him ride one since I moved here, which is kinda sad.

This is probably the final week of the riding season, as it'll be too cold when I return from my upcoming vacation. It was a dud of a year - a long, wet spring combined with an early autumn cold snap. Most of my planned long rides didn't happen but at least I know where I want to hit in 2020.

I have some winter troubleshooting to do on the Explorer, but the Streety was perfect so nothing needed on it.

Miles tally for 2019:
Explorer: 4800 miles
Street Triple: 2200 miles

Riding season was done a while ago for me.  I have a low tolerance for cooler temperatures when riding.  Hardly rode this season.  I'd be surprised if I even got 1000 miles in.  Didn't really warm up to what I consider comfortable riding weather until mid May.  Rained nearly every weekend in June (or I had an auto-x).  Spent a lot of time on the road in July and August and thus my weekends when I was home were spent taking care of work around the house (or auto-x).  Rained most weekends in September.  Then the temperatures fell to a bit too cold for my tastes.

Since I missed the window to see this year I think I'm gonna rebuild those ZX6R forks over the winter and get back on the bike next spring. That was the last piece of my bills. I just need brakes

I am so tired of "whips."  Will somebody just please do a real, full, 360 on a dirtbike and be done with it.

Gyroscopics make it pretty much impossible.

I fully understand that.

People on bicycles can do it.

That would result in a nose dive.

Rear brake only, sure. What aboot both brakes at same tyme?

Same effect, but slightly reduced because the wheel is a bit lighter and has less inertia.

Pastrana will figure it out in his foam pit.

This is about the closest I have seen. And it's pretty impressive. I'd count it.

Yeah, tilted axis backflip is probably the closest you'll get to a 360.

Honda's new 650R's look pretty good. The CB650R naked had a killer front end design and the CBR650R looks like it'd be a good comfortable sport bike compared to a 600 or liter bike. The headers on both are beautiful

Not much of a winter riding hibernation here in SLC. It was 50 and partly cloudy yesterday so I grabbed a bike and bought some tools in prep for some Explorer troubleshooting I have to do. There have been other ride-able days but only one heated grip is working on this bike so that's a pain.

A friend of mine just switched to an electric motorcycle. Not only is the speed INSANE INSANE INSANE but he never has to winterize it. He can enjoy the sun whenever it emerges, all winter long.

Range anxiety isn't a thing because his back starts hurting before his battery runs flat.

There really isn't much to winterizing a bike, especially if there's a chance you'll have it out a few times.  Keep fuel stabilizier in the gas and uhhhhhh, yup, that's about it.

If you're cool like me you spend way too much money on a Lithium battery that doesn't drain over the winter.

Sure, but you have to plug in an electric motorcycle, too.

Dirtbike battery hasn't let me down in the spring yet. Having a warm place to store it helps.

I picked up a little 1:18 Explorer off AliExpress, not bad for $9!
